hi guys
i have no instruments atop my mast anymore and was wondering if i could just buy the top wind vane and use my existing displays.
it has a 4 pin plug on it i was wondering if any one is familiar with this plug and if it will fit anything or can i wire it in and do away with the plug.
to buy new instruments is not an option for me at the moment need to try and get going what i have got thanks

Did you google your particular brand or cat. number of you instrument set?
Answer your question...my professional guess ....is NO...
Your set is old top mast analog transducers.
all new ones are digital transfer data....double price...

options are if you have old unit, in most cases are still repairable
if you find the correct matching unit to your instr. even faulty, chance we can repaired it
if you can't find any, you can build one, I mean at least the wind direction.
/ little wind wane, shaft attached to special potentiometer, used to $20 from Farnell Electronic now Element 14 /.

thanks charriot
googled it and found this page http://www.srinstruments.com/srmariner.html#thumb with a brand new mast top unit $340 bucks us though plug looks the same
before i spend that much money on a bit of a gamble i will have to work out if the instruments actually work as there was no mast top unit when i bought the boat
i know the lights come on when i turn them on but does any one know how to test them

Has to be tested, before you buy new mast assy.
It would be hard to explain.
From my experience, most cockpit units are internally salt moisture damaged.
From minor corrosion to complete destruction of the system.
That's starting point.
Even salty vapour is dead short for electronic.
Internal inspection using magnifying glass is a must.
Function test is second.
get mast unit ...last.

first inspection is easy, corrosion and related damage is obvious.

second tests are a bit more difficult,
/ wind direction is analog and wind speed is pulse transducer /
it can can be tested on the boat or bench tested.
when you complete satisfactory stage one....let me know..
