I'm ready to upgrade my Gong foil setup to something lighter and higher quality. I keep seeing Armstrong and Axis as the fan favorites. Unfortunately the Axis 1020 is out of stock and has been for a long time. Does anyone on here have the Armstrong 2400 and use it for Winging? The 2400 looks to be thinner and higher aspect than the 1600. I would be very interested to hear the feedback from anyone who has ridden or owned them.
I want to get a foil that doesn't have a mast that has a super sharp leading edge or trailing edge. My Gong mast trailing edge is very sharp. How sharp are the masts and wings on the Armstrong 2400?
2400 is a really good wing for wingding. Edges are rounded Axis are way sharper. I had the 102 Axis and the 2400 is significantly better in all ways.
Hi There,
I've used the 2400 for winging. I use it in very light conditions when I struggle with the 1600. it is for sure thinner compared to the 1600, also flatter. I still find it reasonably fast.
Cant comment on the axis.

I use the 2400 and it goes well. Very happy with it. Had Gofoil 200 previously and I found it front foot heavy and prone to bucking me off. Armstrong the feet are more easily balanced.
I have only used the 2400 while going through the whole learning process with winging and I have been very happy with it. I also have the 1600 which I have used in the surf and behind the boat. I have never used an axis so I cannot comment on those. Behind a boat I have also used last years Naish, Slingshot, and KeNalu foils. The first time I used the 1600 armstrong behind the boat, I had a huge grin on my face. All I could think was how smooth that armstrong foil felt and that it was worth every penny I spent on it. On the wing, the 2400 feels just as smooth and pops up easy. Others have said it seems slow, but to me I can get quite a bit of speed with it on the wing. I have been getting better and flying in lower and lower winds. I used the -2 shim and in the lower winds, it popped me up quick and easy at about 86kg.
I have the Armstrong wing lineup and have been using the 2400 almost exclusively for winging (still learning). At 65kgs, I just transitioned from a 105 ltr down to 74 ltr board and I can gybe both ways competently and go upwind finally. With one session on the smaller board, my progression went up two fold. So much easier.
Lately, I have been using the 2400 wing with the 72CM Mast, the very short 50CM fuselage, HS 232 tail, and adjusting the tail angle depending on conditions. If it's blowing pretty good and there's swell, I put in the +1 TTF to reduce lift surges. If its average, I put the 0 TTF. If its really light, I put the -2.
For wings, I have the F-one 3.5 and 5.0 M, which covers me from 11 mph to 30ish mph.
I give it two thumbs up! I think the V2 2400 is supposed to be even better. I look forward to the next wing specific foil wing Army comes up with (just speculation).
I know the @spoiledbythefoil guys out in California have tried them back to back. You could DM them and post the response.

Spoiledbythefoil response - Just slightly less drag, handle a 2-3 extra mph in speed without feeling draggy
What is the difference between the 2 visually. I have one bought in Feb.
Very little.
V1 2400cm2 v V2 at 2390cm2 same width slightly thinner.
From website:
Continuous testing and refinement helped us find a combination of planform, leading and trailing edge sweep and the right amount of anhedral curve that delivers super smooth flow, giving a more connected surf like feeling while on the fly.
Does the V1 have red paint on the top near the fuse connection point, and the V2 has no red paint on it ?

I have seen red painted ones in photos but my V1 does not have red paint.
I have a V2 and it also says that on the wing itself. So quite easy to determine.
I think they were after if it was more HA or not.
Met a guy in Fiji with red on both his 1600 and 2400 and he said they were about 18 months old and came with the old mast with an aluminuim connection so I assumed it was all 1st generation gear but maybe the red means nothing
Thanks everyone. I guess mine is V1? It goes pretty well. Cant complain. Went out today in very gusty conditions with 1550 and 5.3 wing. Was way overpowered in the gusts.
Coming home I witnessed a traffic accident with 2 cars or more. It was all slo mo and hope everyone is ok. Canning Bridge in Perth. One car went through the railing either into water or onto cycle path or both.

Got two at the moment. As mentioned before the V2 is slightly thinner. No red paint on mine and the V2 has printed V2 on the bottom.
Really happy with the build quality, sold my old aluminium NP wing.
Cant wait to try it out on the water in 3 weeks...
Stay safe

My understanding is that Armstrong stopped making the V1 in August 2019. Also, not all V2 have the "V2" printed on the wing itself. Some do, as shown in the pictures above, but not all.

Bugger bought mine in early August 2019
I had the 102 Axis and the 2400 is significantly better in all ways.
Can you please tell me exactly in what way it is better than the 102 Axis?
Faster? More control at speed? Better turning? Easier to get flying on a mini wave?

Yes to faster, yes more control, yes better turning and a bees dick harder to get going on a a micro wave.
I had a fun session yesterday in 10 to 21 knts sideshore using my F-One 5M and 5'1" 74ltr board. I tested my 2400 then my 1550 back to back. Both times running the 85cm mast, 60 fuse, and -0.5 TTF (discontinued). Front foot strap and mast in same position. Just basically focusing on pointing upwind and looking for bumps to gybe on and ride back downwind, with one across wind speed run back to the launch.
2400 max speed: 12.9 mph
best 10 sec: 11.3 mph
best 1KM: 8.6 mph
Avg heart rate: 137 BPM
1550 max speed: 13.9 mph
best 10 sec: 12 mph mph
Best 1KM: 8.5 mph
Avg heart rate: 161 BPM
The 2400 was more fun for the conditions due to the inconsistency of the wind and it seemed to ride the small swells better. More of a 'workout' using the 1550 as I was off foil more and trying to launch more than with the 2400. (It's crazy to review light wind session heart rates versus good wind heart rates).
Next time there are similar conditions, I may try the 1550 with the -2 TTF or side the mast forward a cm.
Thought this might be helpful for someone looking at wing options in the Armstrong range.
Thanks for info ,interesting I've just picked up my 6'7 fanatic @125 lts and I'm putting the 1550 on with 72 mast 60 fuse
and I think I will use the 300 tail and 0 ttf .I only have a 4m wasp so I guess I will need 15kns to have a chance, Do you think the 2400 is more useful to get for lighter wing or do you think a 5m wing would be better choice? , both cost about the same.
VB, man you are killing it and the fun tests you are doing are providing some neat information.
Kobo, I have been "acquiring" more and more gear too. I went through your thought process so I can relate. my opinon would be to get the 2400 over the 5m. Eventually you may possibly want a 6m. The gap between the 4 and 6 would be good for the quiver collection and you will have to armstrongs to make light winding on light days even easier. Plus you could use the shims or washers to go negative on the tail wing to help lift too. 6 of one, half dozen of another.
