NEWS FLASH Foil Board Attacked
On Saturday 6th August a few of us went over to Kihei for a Downwind paddle as it was all time just surfed all the way. Kihei is so mechanical. Connor Baxter did a Maliko Downwind Run on his Starboard Foil Board and guess who, Connors Foil Board got attacked by Timmy the Tiger Shark in the 10ft range the Tiger hit the foil with lightning speed around Mama’s Fish house Connor had to use his paddle pocking the Tiger in her face to keep her away, you can see tiger shark teeth marks on the Foil. Lucky Connor is OK.
I guess Timmy the Tiger Shark miss took the foil as it shines on top of the water surface as a Big Lure - or a big flying fish.
I think this will be the first of many attacks
The Story has just been released on the Hawaiian NEWS
Maliko was just EPIC today for my final Maliko Run just surfed all the way, I love maliko.
The board wasn't foiling when it happened. Connor was well ahead of the pack so he turned around and was paddling upwind when it happened.
I thought the go foil was a black carbon like colour? I Could be wrong.
if it's not shinny silver like a massive lure/fish then she sounds like a really really hungry angry fish or like above a really stupid one?
There are 1000's of kite foilers and only 2 reports of a shark having a go at them. Stimo brought up a good point today and said maybe when he was paddling slow it looked a stingray , sharks love them and plenty of fisho's use live rays to fish for sharks on the Gold Coast.
Foils come in heaps of different size and colours some maybe more attractive than others to a shark. Pretty sure the Go Foil below is what Connor was using. (2nd pic)
