Just about to start shaping a foil sup. Rough dimensions are 6'2 by 29 wide. Hoping for about a 95l board as I weigh 170 lbs. I have foiled about 10 times and am completely addicted. If anyone has feedback or ideas on tuttle box placement that would be great. Right now I'm kind of guessing and have pencilled it in at 16 inches from the tail. I have a couple foil boards but one is 6'8 and the other is 7'4. I have seen lots of boards in Maui and the shapes are pretty square and super short. My foil is the Iwa gofoil.

I have a 7'2" Minion which is 95L that I am going to retro fit.Its nice to see short SUPs being recognised for their worth and not just the domain of light riders. At 78kg mine is great as a SUP.

Hi Ghostman
Would love to hear how your Minion goes as a foiling board. I believe Supmaori also uses a Minion.
Im thinking of adding a tuttle box to my 7.2 Minion and have had great advice from this forum re placing it and use of foot straps etc.
I tried using Velcro and a bit of foam to mark my back foot position but it came off after one wave.
From my limited experience, if you can use a method to make sure your feet are in the right place before lift off, it makes all the difference.
Would love to hear how you go.

From my experience on kite foils and sup foils your back foot is roughly over the mast then front foot roughly 25" from back foot position i always allow 2" either side.
Hope this helps.

What a beautiful wood finish on the 6'2. Having hesitated so long and hoping for a versatile board that would make catching waves easy I finally cut it to 6'6. I have no idea it this will help or not. This is my first attempt at shaping anything so it is taking forever and I'm going back over and over again rethinking it and modifying it. At some point I will give up and call it done. I am on Maui and have looked at every foil sup I run into and it does seem like there are no fixed rules yet, although insanely short seems to be the trend as weak as a bevelled tail and rails which I attempted on my board. This photo is a few days old, I modified the bevel and it is less pronounced and runs parallel for three feet at middle section of board. I also aIso added way more nose rocker to the point where there is no longer a bevelled rail. I did my best to flatten out the rocker as I noticed many boards were flat through the rear section, for more speed and less turning I guess. I have just this photo but will take more tomorrow.

Here are a few pics from today. I am still not so sure about tuttle box placement. I am curious about having both the box and the rails installed.

Put both boxes in there is a ton of new foils coming out and all are track.
