Has anyone got any feedback on the Gulliver paddle boards?
I would like to hear if you have good and bad comments.

I am looking at their "All Star" and "Cruiser" models.
These boards are cheap at the moment on ebay but best to check for any feedback before $ get sent.
I am 100kg's , competent surfer looking to get into paddle boarding.

Cheers.

i've got one of the "sand reef" boards that look like they come out of the same factory just different name on the board 9'8" swallow tail bamboo bottom & top, great looking board, surfs really well and built very well, the only thing you may find is that they are a little heavier than other boards, if i was looking for another board i would buy one at that price.

gulliver, sup atx, sand reef etc they are all a price point board. IE built to fit in under a price range and still make money ;)

Personly I think the "shape" isnt there nore the quality of construction. With the price that some shops are doing on known brands last years models including paddles I wouldnt by "cheap chinese"

there are cheap chinese...... then there is good chinese. depends on how much the board suppliers spend. imo a good production chinese /thailand board that is well though out will last longer, and keep a better resale value that any custom boards sold in a au.

i do own two custom boards.

The naish fin boxes snap out before the fin breaks, quality yellow colour, with great stickers. Starboards dont walk to the nose they dent. They are all cheap with more expensive graffics . Maybe a better shape , but still made by Kan Tong who also works part time in the noodle factory on the weekends , in whatever asian country . Seems to me the more paint , the more they are hiding, the truth is in repairing them!

I have seen first hand a naish fin snap at the base with no fin box damage..... when Gulliver has sold as many boards as Naish, PSH, Surftech etc and has the same overall result there will be proof of your statement.....nothing is unbreakable.

one of my customs has to be repaired evertime I use it as it is soft as a microwaved bananna. all it takes is taking it out of its cover and it dings.
so with it's 10,000 repairs it makes the board weigh as much as a good priests sack.

My Starboard took a beating and still looked new when I sold it. Solid as a rock- no dings and I spent plenty of time on the nose! I would also happily pay more for a "better shape"

I remember there was a heap of negative banter when Chinese epoxy boards first hit the shelves. That negative talk was mainly fueled by traditional shapers and the sponsored surfers riding their polyester boards who had a inherit need to spread such crap. Truth is anyone who knows anything about boards knows that computer shaping machines can copy any board. All the leading companies and new upstarts copy each other. And there is always many different shapes under each label for different conditions and different level riders.

When are sellers going to stop using this site to promote themselves and dish other products
I don't even know this product. Its obviously new to the market. putting **** on it or comparing it to leading brands doesn't help a kook to make a decision. I know one thing. these same debates arnt happening in short-board circles. If you want advise take it from a person who has bought the product and used it not from these idiots guessing or pushing their own agendas.

it's worth mentioning there is a big difference between a board made in some no name factory in China vs boards out of Cobra in Thailand. Cobra have been doing OEM epoxy watercraft for many years with a great record of success. Windsurfers which endure much higher forces than any SUP have been coming out of here for many years.

true true. but are they really twice as strong like the price tag suggests. Id had a few surftechs yep they are strong but not worth 2-$300 more no way. Keep in mind Surftech-Cobra was once a no name factory and they also copped their fair share of criticism, actually its still copping a bit from high performance shapers. Isn't their construction vacuum glassed sandwich coolite construction. that construction has been around since the 80s guys....ask the clubbie shapers. Surftech is all about duplication. Mass production...Its simple business its a Macdonalds guys.

quality of materials, from the foam out...like dtm says....and also look at shape. Yes the shape of say a surftech isnt as refined (but is getting closer with their ultrflex range) as a custom but they are atleast being designed by known shapers. also back up and support.....

Just a note -Surftech make the cheapest boards in the market...why? they use less materials.
They rely on their vacuum molding process to create strength. Funny cause they are the most expensive. There is no point talking about blanks, cause blanks types are related to volume and buoyancy then related to performance not strength. Blanks are ALL FOAM. Foam is never strong regardless off density. Board strength is related to glass. How many Surftech boards are being ridden at the heavies waves spots in the world (ship sterns and Jaws etc) by Hamilton, Hipwwod, Mathews and other big wave chargers? None! Don't believe the marketing and hype. Any manufacturer, can copy any board and they do and will if they want. All manufacturers can copy any board made by ANY shaper. SUP shapes are designed to suit ability. So select a shape that suits your ability, not a brand that suits an ego. Ask how much glass is used 2 to 3 layers are common on beginner boards. Check if that company has any BAD press. Remember Beginners need flat, long, square railed boards, it makes the improvement curve faster. Most of these new companies buying boards from china are designed for beginners for due purpose paddle/ surf. Thats why their shapes seem "boring" or "not there yet" to advanced SUP surfers. Remember! Light boards perform better but usually are weaker cause less materials were used achieve this. Find a shape check the glass. Forget Brands. Hope this helps

so I guess JM doesnt surf his own Surftechs when he's over their ....and re laird, desnt he ride custom boards for that stuff anyway??? what about the PSH guys and the Naish guys etc etc most of those Big name guys riddng more than just a normal wave are ridding customs....in house or not.

I argree with your points on foam....but what i was saying was quality, not strength....yes the 2 can be related. But not just foam, but all the materials and the tooling in which they are assembled.

You seem to have picked Surftech out??? I have NO affliation with them. I was using them along with naish psh etc as examples over stuff like ATX or gulliver. I have how ever, owned 4 different brand boards...the Surftech copped the worst abuse and handled it the best...so less materials or not, its working

I also dont get where ego comes from??? if you have looked carefully at these boards (ATX and gulliver) its not just the shape, its the feel and quality that is missing compared to the others....hence the price difference. The ATX/Gulliver boards are being marketed as beginner boards not just becasue of shape and or price

as for are Surftechs/Naish/PSH etc worth the extra dollars to a ATX/Gulliver....for me EVERYTIME...why? well getting a board repaired costs money and time and time without that board....also for me its the shape and knowing if something goes wrong through the fault of manufatcuring there will be someone to case up.
