Hey - you not decided on that board yet? Nightmare choosing

Not tried either but from the start I can tell you that the Prowave at that size will be MUCH harder work and will need good balance/fitness and better waves. The Naish will be good/great performance (judging what others say) and will be much more user friendly I reckon. So, unless you are a bit of a ripper and not on the heavy side it is a no brainer. Just look at the volume difference. These two boards are not in the same category if you get my drift - one is what I reckon a more advanced surfer would opt for - the Prowave.

Thanks Slab
yeah hard to decide especially when your paying close to 3k in NZ for these boards and cant always demo..You wana make sure you get it right.
My sup level is advanced and im sure the Fanatic is the more tricker to master..but Ive also read that the new naish's are pretty high in performance and can feel as loose as a board with less width and volume..so trying to cover all bases with one board. The fanatic i know is extremely light too..but im sure the new naish would be lighter and a step with from my 8'6 Allwave a presently have.
thanks for the feedback

Hi. Had to re-register to communicate what I know/feel about the 8.3x32. Been supn since Dec07 and owned Naish 11.6, 10.6 since then. Got the 9.6 fish 08 for my 50th birthday- great board but sold a few years later and got the newer model 9.6 hokua as my choppy water board coupled with the 9ft hokua. Had a 9.6 mana and a custom 9.6 mixed in there as well.
This summer i figured go sub 9ft so got the mana 8.5 then found out they were bringing out the 8.3 and thought bugger that may have been the one. Anyways i love that mana as it loves small sloppy sh2T with its flatter rocker and its stable as. It surfs great in good surf but havent been in over solid 4ft.
YOLO so bugger it got the 8.3x32 a few weeks ago in case i was missing out and got real good 4-5ft the night i picked it up. Very lucky down herr in the 'naki and wow what a board BUT I FEEL IT NEEDS A WAVE TO SURF WELL. Surfs of the back and i dont like it in smaller stuff where i like to be able to rail turn and trim further forward for flow like on the mana.
Am 5'7" and 85kg and only surf forehand rights if i can and believe the mana is a board with more allround traits. IMO only.

Mate thanks for the feedback..ive head so many good things about the new naish 8'3 and like you dont want miss out if that going to be the one board that is high performance, light and stable...which it sounds like..most of the waves in the bay are either..shore break at Waimarama beach..or Reef break at TA..which tends to be a bit softer. Im 6ft and 94kgs ..dont want tippy..(which the prowave may be) but want performance. Yip you got some nice surf in the Naki mate. May i ask how much you picked up the new naish for?

Cheers

As naish were the only boards i could get back then i became a naish slut. and the guy who gets them also has sold me heaps of kites since 03 so he lets me pay them off over time, i also get a discount because of the amount of stuff i guess price could be a bit sensitive. I think he said around 2550 before special.
Back to the board it feels slightly heavier than the mana which i hope means it is more sturdy. The mana already has slight foot dent in deck probably caused when popping over whitewater, price you pay for superlight i guess. Man are they light, pickm up one handed in the new handle flip upsidedown to let water out then swing em around. The 8.3 pops up over some big whitewater and then the lateral stability is awesome in the swirl over the top. Fore aft stability was a factor for me and could be for someone taller and heavier but you get it after a while with these shorter boards.
What i meant before is that it needs a bit of wall or grunt to feel its potential and i haven't surfed it enough yet to know its size limits. Got the big fcs quads in it now and keen to trial compared to bendy plastics. Really want some more good waves on it as i know how well it turns compared to all those 9ft plus i been on. I still reckon you need something else for 2ft onshore mush though.

Cheer mate..do you notice the width in these new Nash sups being 32'..the pro wave is 29.5...I'm sure if I went with the fanatic its Going be a bit trickery to start with but apparently they surf awesome and are super light... how light is the Naish..thanks for your help too

I have surfed and owned both.

if its poweful enough to keep the pro wave going so u can get to the back of the board... pro wave is great.

in softer gutless waves it is very difficult to get the pw turning as as soon as u get back on it it stalls.. it carries most of its volume upfront.

the x32 rocks in smaller waves, very nimble and fun. u can be on ur back foot in rubbish.

i sold my pw to get a 32 after one ride as we generally get softer gutless waves. i have had the odd larger day where the narrower tailed pw would have been a better choice.

quite different boards!

Thanks for that feedback mate . Can I ask your weight and height? How have you found the Nash in terms of paddling into waves ? Are they reasonably light? And do the rails chip easily..this was a problem with my 9'5 mana..? Can you still ride the 32 in the bigger stuff..say head height..cheers

Yeah definitely, still waiting in Perth for some bigger surf but upto now no complaints. I am on the 8'3" and love it, super loose for a 32" wide board and goes over white water really well.

Im 6'3 and 95kg. the board is a three stokes per side (7'10) and i found that a biggerblade is better, as its a foot shorter than the pro wave, take offs are later so i found that a larger blade go instantly rather than spinning wheels.

They are verytough mine is excellent but i have found that where my eail tape is lifting its taking the paint with it...?

ive surfed some good head high waves... if its too hollow they are not the best and the pro wave would be better, but if its a little fuller its no drama.

i think it will come down to your wave selection. if u surf powerfull punchy beachies the pro wave whilst not a loose has better rail hold. but if its maily average waves the 32 is the bomb.

Something to consider, I have a 32" wide board (SB WP), and I love it, but at 32", I can't rotate forward onto my knees to feet, when sitting straddled at that width, it's one leg at a time, so I've had to adjust my MO. But it might just be me, I'm only 5'9".
