As I do not live by the water and need to keep up balance I sought out one of the Indo balance boards as there was nothing decent in the sports shops and stocks were low and there was no variety.
This arrived on my door step and I have had to try it out straight away. The board is very strong and I love the graphics, cost a fair bit more but looks are important. The blow up ball is great as you can adjust the difficulty to find what works for you and then you can increase the roundness as you improve. There is also a cylindrical roller not pictured here that I don't think I will ever master at my age but hey you never know.
So far very happy with Indo's service and delivery and and product!

Beautiful balance board. I've got several indos. There's a really big cushion you can use with Just one of your SUPs on top if you want. The boards seem to last forever. The founder of the company, Hunter, came and paddled with my SUP team at a race a few years ago. He's no spring chicken but was amazingly fit and capable, and made it all look so effortless. No-one else his age even got vaguely close. He certainly was a really good advert for his product. They aren't cheap. But they are good.

i have one with the wooden roller and use that from time to time.
Is there an advantage to also buying the ball?

I prefer the "cushion" to the rollers because you can alter the difficulty of balancing by blowing up or letting down the cushion, and also it allows kinda 360 degree movement.
You can actually use your SUP with a cushion, if it's strong enough...and you are skilled enough.

Yeah the cushion give you more ability to alter difficulty and stance where the roller is limited. I stand square on the board but also in surf stance because of the oval shape so you get to practice race then surf without changing anything except your feet.

In a similar vein, I started riding a longboard skateboard a few months a go as something to do with my grommets.

I've noticed a direct transfer to my surfing in terms of balance but also foot work, carving and turns.

Plus it's great fun!

Blue Planet Surf has an exceptional balance board they created last year.
Really nice, really works the legs.
The different balance modules and sweet and each has a harder/easier angle to them.
It's really helped me develop my surfer stance and front/back balance for foiling that I'd never done before. I expect to be ready to handle the popups and dips 100% more than if I hadn't gotten this.
Can't wait.
