Looking for best SUP Gun for East Coast Australia. Usually windy and bumpy on the bigger days with stability, extra weight, low railed refined tail and a bit of extra paddle power needed.
Sure there will be some great boards on display at Sunsets world tour comp soon if the swell gets up.
Who has got one and what are the specs please?
What do shapers/ manufacturers do for increased strength in these puppies?
Naish, Jimmy Lewis, DTM Custom seem to have some froth worthy ones.
At 174 cm and 75kg found my 11'6" too big to handle, 8"9' PSH stable but little wide and boaty and my 8"0 DTM custom bit light, unstable and flighty in the bigger stuff although awesome if it is clean and glassy with little wind. Also leg rope plugs don't seem to be up to it. Anyone used different style leash plug or found best way to strengthen normal ones?
Cheers
Looking at the specs on the mid range TC boards I reckon they would make awesome Guns!
8'8'' 29'' 4 1/4'' 111 ltr FCSII TC Premium Quad
9'0'' 29'' 4 5/16''120 ltr FCSII TC Premium Quad
They have the paddle-ability to get in, a bit of extra weight for stability and love drawing lines on open faces!
hi mate
since you like your DTM already, maybe you should consider a custom, i know there where some guys surfing some of them in some big waves

Hey Marty, my DTM 9'2" goes pretty good in the big stuff. I am guessing you mean 3-4 x OH bombie style surf, not much good for wide 8 footers. Had that one in nearly 4 x OH once at the Point and rode big Bower and Makaha (OZ version) on it. Had 2nd Bombie at Long Reff as well.

That's a pretty speckie shot !!!!! Nice very nice
Nice looking stick. For me easily three feet too long. My 11'6" LSD at 160L is way too much for me to handle in the bigger stuff. Especially if it is steep.
A bigger rider in bigger waves or cruising I'm sure it would be a sweet ride.
