Having ridden the 7'10 for a few months i couldnt imagine needing the 9'1. No doubt it would turn well, but even at my weight (95) and un favourable center of gravity (6'3 with chicken legs) i would encourage even a newbie to try the 8'8 or even 8'3 if they have good surfing skills. 32 is a wide board, thats stability straight up.

For those looking at an X32 demo smaller than you yhink too. u wont regretit.

-Skebs didnt you used to have a fanatic prowave 8'10 LTD? How did that board compare to the 7'10? weight, performance..... Thanks!

mate no comparison. the 7'10 is as stable... maybe a touch less.... but surf wise, no comparison. i liked the pro wave when it was solid but in small stuff the volume balance imo was wrong. you couldnt get on the tail of the board cause it would stall straight away... in comparison with the width and volume distribution of the 7'10, you pretty much have ur back foot near the back all the time, so u can work speed in small waves.

for me surfing average weak sunshine coast waves 80% of the time. its da bomb.

im am not sponsored in anyway shape or form by naish. i just dig it :)

I could get a very nice custom board made for $2400.00

Good point there.....the price of SUP's is ridiculous.....but the market is there....SUP is popular with those with high disposable incomes.

i cant fault my board. im heavy and it doesnt have one ding in it... much harder than the early foldable le's.

fin wise im running s7 shapers quads. they work great. the stock thruster set looks ok, i just havent tried them

For sure, in UK as France too or anywhere else, you can find custom board.
About quality, traditional laminate epoxy board are strong enough, once you are not hammering the rails with paddle , shaft or do silly things with the board: just remember: a surfboard is made for surfing in the Ocean water
IMO, excepted beginners's SUP, board won't need so strong construction as BIG compagnies do.
Can be so strong to worth the money they ask for

Not really designed for pumping waves, more weak wind swell. In saying that an experienced rider could handle it but you would probably better off on a more refined board, Hokua LE, Fanatic Pro et al.

The designs that I like the look of most are from standuppaddleboarding.co.uk/ I buy most of my stuff from him.....tempted by his longboard.

yeah. like riding a fish in big surf... too much surface area. my old allwave used to flap when i was out at the spit in solid overhead plus stuff.

i could be wrong i havent had it in big stuff yet... i hope i am wrong, its the only board ive got :)

STC - that's Charlie Grey - included his Fbook page in the list (CG custom paddleboards) - yup - some nice shapes by someone who can ride them well too. He's not a Scot though....they are either southern softies or Welsh. No Scots shaping SUPs.....can't see that happening for a LONG time....if ever!

Hi the LE series are available in NZ now..my question is..how would the 8'3 compare to trhe Fanatic 8'6 Allwave in term of stability. I know the LE is more surfable but trying to figure out whether the 8'3 or 8'8 LE would be better suited. The 8'3 has the same volume as the Fanatic 8'6 allwave where as the 8'8 is 140L. My SUP level is close to advanced and im 92kgs but dont have the luxury of trying the boards before i buy. Any help appreciated.
Thanks

I've had the 8-3 for 2 months am I'm 6ft 4 tall and 95kg and love the board - Super stable paddles well and very very surfy. The 8.3 is so comfortable to stand on for an hour or 2 and at my weight the rear half is under water just standing so the 131 litres seems to be pushed into middle for stability as the front is pretty pulled in with a lot of rocker -- I reckon the boards extreme rocker sorts out the high volume and narrow ish surfboard nose. With a flatter rocker the board would be another fat fish style that bounces about - but this board is smooth, fast and not at all corky. I have only used with Jerry Lopez quad set up and love it.

I want to test in 4-5 ft surf I reckon with the big back Naish rear fin in a thruster set up it would be pretty fun.

Go the 8.3 for a easy cruisey session on a board that rips -

I picked up a 7'3" hokua (2012 model) the other day and it's 28 1/4 " wide. I was wondering if anybody has had a go on it and can compare the stability between it and any boards in the 32" wide series?

Well hey, fortunately not everybody is so lucky to be born in surfheaven as Portugal, France etc,
I live in Belgium ,next to Holland,so the waves are not that great or consistent.

On the other hand, you have Belgium chocolate! You can't have it all!!!

Hey mate, I have just spent the last fortnight on my new 8"8 and will throw a video together in the next week or so. I can't comment on the 8"3, but as an average surfer who spends most of his time surfing a river mouth which is usually quite choppy, the stability on the 8"8 was amazing and I found my surfing has improved in leaps and bounds with this board. I am 1.78 and 88kg. In saying that, I would imagine an advanced surfer would easily cope on the 8"3 and it would still be very stable. Board comes with a Naish bag which is quite protective but a little bit big for the board. I have Shapers Jackson Close fins (bought in a set of 5) and so far only surfed as a thruster, but will try the quad set up when home next. I seriously love the board, it has exceeded all my expectations. Cheers - Cooper
