Hey there guys, am in the middle of a sort of board(s) transition period ive sold my old boards and ordered a couple of new ones, ive two longer race and touring boards coming in the new year whoop. Im wanting to buy a nalu to use to surf predominantly but for the next two months until my boards arrive I want to use it for the odd couple of miles up and down the coast! Im 24 6ft 90kg (sometimes a bit more/less haha) experienced on a sup
From reading the forum the 10'6 will surf well and can take it into bigger surf but might not paddle the best on journeys, the 11' is better for smaller waves and paddles better on journeys, what's everyones thoughts im just very unsure which one to get?
josh from what I've researched, the 11 ft has a lot more rocker and is wider ,therefore in theory slower to paddle ,the 10.6 I have had ,they are an all time classic the recessed deck works well, and they surf very well.! I also had the 11.4 ,and that paddled the best, plenty of video on DJ riding them both .On re reading your post it seems you have touring coverd with your new toys coming, IMO go the 10.6 as they surf very well and still paddle well, keep in mind the recessed deck as it will help with stability, taking into account your height ,I hope DJ gives his opinion,as from memory his physical stats are similar to yours, but he is younger than you
Hi JOSH .JUSTADDWATER is spot on ,i've had all the nalu's at one point ..the top one here is the 11' it surfs a little better with the rocker and is 175 litre and 31 wide ,but you can't walk up the nose as good ,the 11,4 pic.underneath , i kept the 11,4 ,it paddles the quickest ,and surfs pretty good too ,the 10,6 is just a smaller version .and I reckon surfs better of the 3 =@ 160 litre over the 11,4 @180 litres and the foot longer will out paddle the 10,6 .i found the 11,4 was better for my 96 kgs ..for long paddles ,and a bit of small wave surfing ..I have had all of them in overhead waves ...the 10,6 was the best if you are using it in biggish waves ..the 11.4 is a great classic ..I enjoyed all 3 .they all pick up waves so easily ...I hope DJ reposts one of his videos surfing them ..I can't get enough of those videos ..
Hmmm okay thanks so much guys you aren't making this easy for me they all seem Fanttastic boards, how does the 106 perform in say 2/4 foot surf also?
I doubt I'd ever surf anything over double over head probably mostly 6-8ft
cheers
Josh,2/4 ft,absolute optimum, size range IMO,as it is the size range, most of us prefer,if it's about FUN FACTOR ,the bonus with the 10.6 is that it will handle some size as well!totally agree with Tardys post I new there were some photo comparisons on here, somewhere.! Cheers Tardy.
