it is of my opinion fuller nose boards dw much better. i don't want the nose going under . going under means less control, you can't steer a board when the nose is under.

a dw board is never going to go through a bump like a ski or oc1. they are just too wide.

i want my board floating over the top of the bump. its the only way. i've been on lots and lots of downward nosed boards or reverse or whatever. they just don't go as good as a fuller planning nose.

...

i think reverse are better in flats, headwind and bop.

reverse nose has it all over boof nose paddling through waves imo

word

A reverse piercing bow in yachts main purpose is to reduce pitch - it has disadvantages too, the main one being it actually forces the nose down (initially) in a good pearl, before the sheer volume would begin to pick it up.

(good summary here smalltridesign.com/Trimaran-Articles/design/reverse-bow.html )

Interestingly, my guess is that that the new Javelin is combining the best of both worlds. A full planing hull for DW performance and hard rials all the way to the nose so it handles like a full planing hull ( less reverse steering effect ). Then a piercing shape for upwind wave piercing to reduce pitch.

It could be awesome!

I can see its flat planning. Pretty much like the lahui kai.in a true DW er the nose goes under. Once it goes under that less control and slower no matter how space crafty it looks.
. Also you cannot turn a board with the nose under the water and It just will not go through a bump. Jake janson was a naish team rider on the similar le models. Once he got on the new fanatic his ocean results rocketed

Having watched it in action it goes very well, it will be a 2015 board. I dread to think the price. I am hoping to have a little paddle on it this weekend

Or have a pointy upturned nose like Jimmy Lewis M14, SIC Bullet (V1), Rogue Rage. They pull the node up and out fo the water in a nice neutral fashion when poking.

But tell us more about the Lahui Kai in Dw situations since the new Naish is so similar.
- Is it easy to step back and keep the nose out of the wave in front?
- Are the Lahui Kai Manta boards an inherently stable shape?

I have now watched the Naish on the surf (2') and it surfs very well (with a good rider). Watching it race on the flat, it seems very easy to lift the nose so I dont think it would have a problem keeping the nose out on bumps as a small backward step seems to lift it easily

When will the 2015 Naish boards be announced?

UK, late this year I would imagine. I guess they will be in Australia well before we get them. This board is very light and is a team riders board so not sure if production boards will be exactly the same

Thanks, but I didn't mean when do we *get* them. I meant when will we know what the 2015 board range will be. In other words, the publication date of the 2015 catalogue. Thanks for any info you have.

That I don't know, but quite late this year I would imagine. Naish have now gone public on it. I managed to get a very quick go on one last Sunday and it felt quick and stable (water was pretty flat)

Thanks guys, and a nice looking video with some awesome race footage. But it doesn't actually give us any details that could guide a purchasing decision, such as widths etc. And of course it says nothing about the rest of the Naish range.

I tried to buy a Glide GX 14 recently. But there are none left in Europe, and no more 2014 stock coming. So I'd have to wait until the 2015 models are available. But if I don't know what will be available, nor know even when I will know, it is a bit hard to sit on my hands for the next six months. Maybe I'll have to go with another brand. Or go custom. It's tough when you want to spend money but can't!

Can I suggest contacting your local Naish Dealer. They should have the info by now just can't go public. I paddled the 2015 models last week in Maui and there was a guy from the UK there.

They will have same shape with slightly different graphics. Weight difference will be 2-3kg if existing boards are anything to go by.

Are the team riders all on the production width boards or will there be some signature edition skinny versions about?

Yep I hope there are some demo boards available. They look really interesting. But it's a helluva lot of dough to splash without knowing if the board will suit you.

How heavy/tall is Kai Lenny? In some interviews he doesn't look much bigger than my 13-year old son, but maybe he was standing next to giants.

No board gives you that much advantage. Unfortunately.
