SMIK Spitfire and Hipster twin fin
Inspired by MR twin fins
Love to hear any feedback on these boards demo a SMIK Short Mac yesterday only in flat water paddles great , great glide stub nose heaps of stability wondering what these boards are like compared to say sunova's ??????
The spitfire and twinny s rip hard mate /. A few of us were on Sunova styles flows and acids and not one of us have every surfer a Sunova again after been on the smiks ..
they do chip up on the rails pretty easy but that's all I can pick ..
fast loose light and closest board I've felt to a short board . Longest board I've ever held on too and I'm never selling it ..

Thanks for the feedback Mickchard How's the stability on the spitfire mate the dimensions on the 8.8 look perfect. Yeh been looking at 8.10 flow great board and 8.10 creek then was shown the Smik boards to many choices these days hey! ??
Hi Scotchman thought id add my thoughts to youre question re smik.Had a ride on the 8.6 twin and found the board lots of fun in anything under 3 foot,very stable and surfs like you would expect a fish type craft would,have to say i enjoyed it but took it out the next day in solid slightly challenging point waves and i did not have the same experience,was very quick to get back on my speed .We are running the nubster and may have needed to size up centre fin for this day.I have also ridden the 8.10 creek in similar conditions and found it a much more positive board in the waves we surf but that may be just that im used to the sunova tail and construction.Happy to have the smik in the quiver for sure but it wont be my always go to board.Waiting on a mate to get the 8.10 smik twin and ill be interested to see how the bigger version surfs.Its always horses for corses but for me the speed is a top performer although some days the stability does test my nerves. I havent ridden any of the other smik shapes but they sure look pretty cool.
I'm 95 kegs and on the 8.3 .. was a touch tippy at the start but now I barely fall off . The twins more stable and pretty close on losses ness .. but for me I liked the more traditional shape ..
yes ive surfed the acid and speed a fair bit and to be honest for me it's not even close to the fun I have on the smiks .. I still like the speed and would surf one any day but for tail slides floaters and lip hitting it's hard to beat the smik ..
the acid vid for me was too much work when on the 8.8 .. and it felt like I was back on a big board again ..
but yer horses for courses totally agree ..
my mate 100 kegs and on a 8.3 twinny .. he's only surfs juice and I mean punchy Melb waves and loves it .. sold his acid straight away

Hey Lucylou thanks great feedback I've actually got an 8'10 creek on order but was shown the SMik boards and thought ok I should demo short MAC first thoughts were shiete gotta add one to the quiver then read up on the hipster twin fin and spitfire both look like great boards.
hey what's thoughts on the 8.10 creek stability wise I've only demo in flat conditions was originally thinking to go 9'1 but I'm 80-85kg and boys at shop said go the 8'10 ? What's your thoughts so far

8.10 easy mate, im at 86 kegs no problem and extra benefit not as quirky/tippy as the speeds can be,my stock is the 8.8 speed but also like my 8.5 at 115 ltrs. Irun c drives in all the boards and love them but Macca is going with the sunova fins in his creek and is very happy with them.Being from a longboard background im looking at the steeze ,like the idea of the longboard front half with the pulled in rear
Bought an 8'8" spitfire about 6 months ago, with the intention of getting comfortable on it for a Maldives trip this year. Was able to demo one which helped me decide very quickly, from the very start I knew it was the board fo me, so stable , catches waves easily and love the way it surfs, feels a lot smaller than it is. Looking to get a a Twinny soon to take to Maldives in August.
Im 90kgs, feel I could drop down to the 8'3" Spitfire. I've owed a Speed in the past.

yer I was a sunova tragic riding the 8'7 flow and 8'10 acid . I'm now on the 8'3 hipster and have a spitfire 8'3 on the way..
so for me the difference I have found is that for one I'm on a shorter much lighter board that's far more responsive and two I'm surfing in the pocket more. The flow was a great board but it's fast down the line but does not like being in the pocket the acid was a barrel machine but with the length at 8'10 for 116 liters it's just far too long for me and the rocker made it super un stable.
My hipster is 8'3 x30 x 116 liters and I'm super stable on it I rode the 8'3 spitfire few weeks back at 29x 112 liters and found that quite stable too.. these boards are for progressive surfing in proper waves but are super fun in smaller waves .. my hipster does not like fat slow waves but neither do I so that works for me. I surf portsea, rye, St. Andrews killcunda and west coast. Beach breaks and reefs. No pro or sponno but love to surf.

Good Surfing and great wave! Video edits nicely done. You big guys are ripping on these shorter Smik boards! Board designers/shapers that stand still will be left behind. Great to see new boards coming out every year and older boards being tweaked.

I'm going to demo a twinny soon hopefully and a short mac if they have one. Not really sure on sizes yet but I'll have a good idea after a demo. Riding a 10'6 x 29 at the moment pretty comfortably so guessing I'll be able to handle a 9'2 x 30 - 31.

Hey smh yeh I was riding 10.6 nulu demo a 8'10 in flat water very stable I'm 85kg. Great boards

Yeah it's just a matter of getting the feel of it. Saw a guy down the beach today with a Smik twin fin but he was going out as I was in the car park getting ready to leave. Hoping to get to ride a few demo's in the next few days or maybe next week.
