Intuatively boards with a plan shape like a speed make a lot of sense as a SUP board. Good stability for dims, parallel rails improving paddling and allowing a lot shorter overall length without losing section beating projection in your bottom turn....
Have heard lots of praise for the design generally but can't recall any on the very short lengths.
Interested to hear peoples experiences.
Smallest stock Speeed is 7'3 x 24" at 73 liters
I believe that is the board ridden by Jacy Shimahara, a pro who rides Sunovas
He does not ride customs with the Sunova label, he rides stock boards.
Here are some pics and vids of his Speeed in action
Thanks for the reply STC.
Jacy ridding stock boards is a great endorsement for the Sunova products. His performance at Sunset during the pro event were impressive, on a Acid (I think).
More specifically I am wondering if myself as a fly weight can select on more on volume and how the ride ability translates for mere mortals with the associated tiny dims. I realize that there are more factors than just weight, just interested in people's experiences with ridding the boards at the smaller end of the range.
cheers
smaller is fine if you still match it to the wave type. if you go smaller your ability needs to be greater.also if you weigh more & go smaller your ability needs to be greater..but with sunovas , the board will always work given those criteria - if the board is in the wave it is designed for .dean
