Hi,
Been kite Foiling for a while off the beach in the swell and completely addicted to foiling.
Now looking to mount my Liquid Force Foil (low aspect slow foil) to one of my SUP's to continue the stoke.
Any suggestions, given the soft foam of SUP's to work with?
Thinking along the lines of cutting a box out of the board & fill with same size high density foam with dual 12" U/S Fin box mounts.
Just worried about the amount of force the metre long mast & wings create. That most mounts will just rip out of the board on a wipe out. Do you think you need to butcher the board to add stringers to compensate?
Very fond of this particular board and what to get it right 1st go. Super strong Stick on Mounts available, but this would probably wreck the ride of a great board.
Thanks
Scott
JB at Naish is mucking around with foil set ups this weekend at Windsurfnsnow in Sydney. If you're down that way he'll be back in the shop this morning working on his.

You want to anchor firmly the box into both the deck and hull skins. Forget the foam, it will not be strong enough.
And reinforce heavily the skins, especially if they are not already real sandwich.
I would add strap inserts.
And I definitely would find a shorter mast. Hitting the bottom with the 1m mast is a high risk in waves, plus the insane torque any water movement created by the wave and various rips will apply to it
Did you ever get the Liquid Force foil mounted? I'm curious to hear how it worked for you on a surf SUP. Thanks.
