That looked like a bit of fun!

Now, I seriously do not need another board!

However...

In my never ending search for a board that lets me surf like Kelly (well, feel like Kelly until I look at the vid) I have looked at the Acid and I have looked at a smaller version of boards like the Flow (e.g. Smik), and I have looked at the Tommo boards (the new Corby looks cool) but one question is length versus width. For my 90+ kg I would be on an 8'10" Acid and I feel I would be going backwards.

What works for you: the narrower, longer Acid, the shorter, wider Flow, or the potentially shorter Speeed? (I am assuming OK conditions and waves that want to play.)

CSE- The Acid is my preference... even at a longer size, it is, as it is designed to be... a higher performing board.
Last week I chose the 9'2 Speeed on an OH day with 30 mph winds, because I was the only SUP at a crowded, competitive point-break.
I needed the confidence and stability that the Speeed gives me.... plus it is the fastest paddler of the bunch. I would have rather used the Acid, but it is much more challenging for me with the thin nose. Plus I have yet to get the Acid in some size, so I went with a board I have more experience on. The Speeed has never let me down in any surf.... it is super dependable, and handles a hard turn on a bigger wave with ease. Soon I should get to test the Acid in less windy conditions and see how it holds up.

Even in small surf, I like the Acid, it throws around nicely and carves such sweet turns & has great speed.

The only Flow I have decent experience on, is the 9'2 and the 9'4 Acid is my clear favorite of those two
I have only ridden the 8'10 and 8'7 Flow briefly, but they show me a LOT more than the 9'2 did.... I will have an 8'10 Flow soon, so I can give it a good look and report back. The Flow is the clear winner in stability, size for size.

The funny thing about the Acid is, it's not that narrow, size for size.... it's the high performance foil and overall shape the give it the edge... and also make it the most challenging for me. My buddy just got his 8'10 Acid today.... I can't wait to see it and try to paddle on flatwater!

Interesting - thanks STC! I will be interested to hear when you have spent a bit more time on the Flow but the Acid sounds pretty good!

I haven't been on the Acid for awhile so having flashbacks watching your video! Yeah the Acid is really fun in small waves and this is partly due to the board not being too narrow for a performance shape. My 8'11 is 30.5" so pretty wide but it has the tail of a shortboard surfboard shoved up its arse so a narrow performance tail and lots of planing area up the front. It catches soft waves easily and early and the key is that it is quite a thin railed board so sits low in the water and combined with the curvey outline cuts through the water like acid.

Nice dismount at the end supthecreek!

If the kids hear the name of this board they are probably into SUP. If they are into SUP, then they definitely don't have any money for drugs.

As wrong as it is possible to be within the confines of two sentences.

"RedThumb makes a good point. I would like to have a beer with RedThumb sometime."

well if they buy from Naish, Starboard, Sunova etc etc they won't have any drug money. Local shapers are half the price and just as good….if not better.

So, If you buy from your local shaper, you can afford to spend with your local dealer? Then summer will be more fun on acid
