Didn't know this could happen but it must be the explanation since a premium product from Fanatic would not have a manufacturing defect that could possibly cause this in a board that is less than three years old. Besides Fanatic deny it is a problem that they are concerned about as the board is out of warranty.
An equivalent replacement board is over $1800 so this is a bargain for a well kept board less than three years old. Well it would be if the board was usable for supping. Board has been stored in a garage over that time and has had a good life paddling out to local islands on weekends. Washed, dried and stored out of the sun after use but still managed to get into this condition. You can take all the precautions you like but the unexpected can still happen.
