Found this on the Balmoral Paddle surf website, but can't find anymore info anywhere online.
Does anybody know anything about these boards?
Tom Carroll in collaboration with Blane Chambers from Paddle Surf Hawaii has added two new lines ? The Long Grain ? performance longboard style boards and the Loose Leaf for more performance.'
There is a video by Paul Chapman on the Sup general page. The 8'0" Loose Leaf is a beautiful looking board, awesome construction with a lot of thought into the design. Not sure if Tom's board was quite the volume as the specs above, probably tweaked a bit for his size and skills but he said the production boards are basically the same. Sure they will rip and people will love them. Will bump the video up on the other page.
did hear from my local board shop about 2 months ago these were on the way but have heard nothing since
looking at the loose leaf looks like they would fly ,
still really enjoying my DC NSP board but would be interesting to get off the DC and onto one of these and compare .
Fastest Sup I have ridden. Very stable for size and the Greenough inspired centre fin Tom was using is awesome. Imagine with the TC quads it would be off the hook fast.
These boards land in Nov/Dec. Tom brought down his 8'0 to the store the other day. Sweet looking board I have to say!
It is a true collaboration between Blane and Tom having the chined rails of a Hull Ripper (though much more subtle) and Tom's own unique nose design
to suit his riding style - working the whole board, tip to tail.
Tom has been working with Blane since 2007, so there has been 7 years of collaboration with these boards.
Tom's new boards look awesome. AA was nearly wetting himself with excitement when TC gave us the low down on the boards the other night. Certainly a range to look forward to.
Thanks AA, it's sounding good. I really like TC's style of sup riding. I think his nose to tail style is how it should be done, rather than just trying to ride like its a shortboard. I'm glad he's bringing out a range with an emphasis on that. Any idea what the construction is like?
Hi,
The boards are live on on our Website now. Videos are uploaded and the boards have just arrived in Australia.
Check it all out here:http://www.surfindustries.com/TCSUP

That was good!

I agree. Tom has a clean smooth classic style.
Anyone got any thoughts on the double concave and vee in the nose? It looks quite pronounced.
I wonder whether it counters yaw when you're paddling and then when up and riding it gets out of the water more....or could ,it make the nose tend to track?
Unpacked the new 11'er this morning - that is one sweet looking board! Comes with a pretty sweet fin set as well

We asked Patrice Guénolé, he told us that it helps the board track in noserides, so that you can use a smaller fin than with a flat nose without sliding down the face. It also soften the braking effect when the nose touches the water. However, it rides differently in noserides and can be difficult to reproduce consistently in production.
Myself, I see that the rail shape is also quite special. And the distribution of volume seem typical of Blane shapes (volume centered in the middle).
Anyways, it is always good to see innovative designs.
I didn't get a chance to ride this at Merimbula(because AA was frothing so hard on it he wouldn't let it go) but it looks fantastic in the flesh. The small handful of guys that did ride it all came back with the same mental grin that AA had every time he was in the water.
more links - the new Tom Caroll boards look really nice, and the video of him surfiing them is incredible!

Those are really nice looking boards. Whats the deal with that big V double concave in the nose where the center of the double concave (the V) is lower than the rails? Does it give the advantages of a V in the nose so it cuts the chop like many big wave guns have?
That's my guess. The V will part chop, as well as not acting like a sail on take off.
I have a similar bottom shape on my mals and it works well
I surf a Naish Hokua xe32 le and am in the market for something with a lot less rocker and is suitable for up to 2 ft....I think these TC boards look so good and can't wait until a few rider reviews come in. The prices compared to Naish, JP, Starboard and Fanatic are super good....my local shop has them priced just over $2k with FCS fins included. The shape and style of the boards is pretty cool but I was kind of surprised on the weight.
If anyone has any idea's on what would be a good 2nd board that is not as aggressive in the rocker as the Hokua please let me know...I have also had a look at the Naish Nalu, but it may be a bit too longboardey for me....I love how the Hokua surfs more like a short board for me (if that makes sense) I don't want a sup longboard.
suggestions?

Get a "wide ass" (mini-Simmons, tomo, fish, ...) parallel rails shape.
- The wide tail will alllow riding them VERY short (7') while taking off as early as longboards. Dont worry, these designs are incredible stable and paddle quite well
- The short length will allow you to use a VERY flat rocker without pearling
- The flat rocker will introduce you to the world of insane speeeeeeeed!
- Have designs with heavy tail concave(s) and the possibility to put fins quite far back for control at these insane speed (C-Drives work great), and you would never use any other board again...
With my 100kg I would just have pushed water on a havey rockered board in these conditions: (total rocker on my 6'8" is 21cm = 8")
Do the models and sizes strike anyone as being a touch heavy?Love the legend TC.
Yes
What are the dimensions of your 6'8 Colas?
You can see both boards here: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/Review/New-610-Simmons-SUP
6'8" (not a Simmons, rather a fish) is 29" 1/2 x 5" 1/2, one foot offs: 21" 13/16 front 22" rear, 125 liters, 21.1 cm ( 3" 5/16) total rocker
I just picked up a 9'6 loose leaf TC from Balmoral for a demo. Will let you know how it goes. Looks

y sick! I took the big single fun out and dropped in some Quads. My preference I reckon SUPs are better with Quads.
