Just a quick little teaser of a project we have been working on to get some unique angles of our boards being surfed. Nicknamed "The widow maker" this contraption gave us some great footage in 4 foot Currumbin Alley with 15 knot winds. I opted for a 9'4 evoke to test the rig out on due to its extra stability and pulled in hip through the tail. Conditions were tricky but the board still held it together. Hope you enjoy

Was just about to cough up for a 8.10 evoke, i might hang off for a while....but still not keen to spend the best part of 2k for an allwave.
If they look like good boards (were they to actually send even half decent pics - the video doesn't even show the board and had some third party endorsement, it would be hard to not go an Evoke carbon at that price - it's a big chunk of $$ saved. It actually amazes me about myself though how much value I can subliminally place one feeling good about what I ride, not just its performance. I wish it wasn't the case, but a really good turn on a board made by, or sold to me by a prick is a long way from being as satisfying as one on a board with good vibes behind it...or even anonymous/neutral ones like some 'brands' are to me. Fanatic is one of those - but the Allwave does look like too much of a hybrid to me - trying to fit too much volume into a moderately compact shape. Looking at one, I couldn't imagine those super-thick rails working in many waves, let alone ALL of them. ...I just read your profile blurb though - the Allwave almost definitely isn't for you. Now that there's plenty around, the 2nd hand market would be best to start - as resale value of new boards is pathetic in this rapidly progressing game. If a bit of racing is the longer term goal, some sort of allrounder would be the go to start. It's probably best to pick the brains of a few shop guys (different shops!) to find options....or ask here (but beware it may be censored!).
I've seen and pick up, not ridden, the 8' 10" evoke in Carbon. Looks and feels like a very nice board. I was looking to move to a carbon from my Starboard 8' 10" Widepoint in AST but the weight of the Evoke seemed excessive for a carbon. I rang the guys from Surfboard Warehouse, who were very helpful and open about their boards. They weighed the board for me while I was on the phone. Nice service, but the weight came back at 10.5 Kg, heavier than my AST 8' 10". They said the carbon construction was for strength, not weight saving. Suffice to say I ended up buying a 2015 Starboard 8' 10" Widepoint in carbon - 8.5 Kg from Wind Surf and Snow. Brilliant service from Sam and the guys. Very very happy.
Hi guys, thanks for your comments. Just to clarify a few things. Jarrod and myself are the only Surfboard warehouse staff posting to seabreeze. The others mentioned are customers who have independently jumped on to voice their opinion on our products. Please PM them and I am sure they would be happy to set the record straight as their names have unnecessarily been thrown into the ring here.
As for the weight of the Carbon Evoke - yes we decided to run a 26kg blank to make this board stronger. Due to the shapes popularity we have a designed a new late 2015 PVC carbon construction which will hit the shelves in a few months and come in at a reduced weight.
Also a shout out to the moderators of Seabreeze, I am not familiar with what was written prior but please repost. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Both Jarrod and myself have not reported anything from this post. Regards, Tim
This comment refers to the actual foam density of the EPS core measured in KG per square meter. Usually when we laminate our boards in carbon we reduce the density of the EPS Blank. The carbon does not directly reduce the weight of a board too much when replacing traditional glass cloth. It certainly makes the exterior shell stronger which allows you to reduce the blank density which in turn helps to reduce the weight. With the carbon evokes we decided to not only give them a stronger lamination "shell" but also to stick with a denser blank. These boards are very strong as requested by the majority of our customers and are by no means heavy. In comparison to our PVC / Carbon constructed Atlantis Vex Profusions, they do weigh more... but they also cost a lot less. I personally don't enjoy riding extremely light boards in messy conditions and I tend to surf most afternoons on these evokes for the simple reason that they slice through chop instead of hitting it and bouncing.

The AST 8 10 was 2012 so yes, my carbon is the new shape. Finer shape as you mentioned. The performance increase is quite marked. for me, this is a combination of the board being carbon and the new shape. Taking the added carbon performance into consideration, the new shape makes the board more manoeuvrable, smoother trim and takes the drop better. When I went to carbon I would have been quite happy with the old shape as I love how it rode, paddled on and trimmed nicely when I needed to get through sections. But the 2015 model does all this but better. Very happy with it. But as I mentioned with my previous post, if it wasn't for the weight of the carbon Evoke, I may have have purchased it. But 10.5 was too much. Good to hear that a lighter version is on the way because I think the shape is quite good. Will have to demo one when I get the chance.

I'll confirm weights of current evokes tomorrow but 10.5 sounds heavy even for our 10'0 Marce. I'all confirm with photos tomorrow.
I messaged a guy off one of these threads about the evoke he sang nothing but praise for the board that he had purchased , he was riding the 7 11, I just wanted to see what his thoughts were on quality and performance as I am looking at the 8 10 and he was happy with both.
Well this thread was entertaining in a soap opera-ish sort of way
Burndo, the product description for Evokes includes 'single into double concave' or did you find that ?
My thread on Atlantis prices was also taken down. My observations were based on a still accessible site and I'm rapt that the listed prices on that site are wrong. Tim was very civil in pointing out there was no price increase (the site's still there Tim) but the thread came down anyway.
Jarrod, clips including a rule run over bottom concaves and a board up against a wall to indicate rockers would be handy.

I too have requested weights of the 7"11 and 8"10 in both bamboo and carbon(an hour before I found this thread)
Along with side pic's to show rail and rocker.

I am very interested in a new lighter version.
I am looking at getting 1 board for myself and possibly 2 more for my kids and a lighter board simply for them to carry is a BIG bonus.
Any info on these things would be much appreciated

Just my 2 cents worth re the Evoke. I'm the fella that supwebby pm'd re my old thread for the evoke, and still very happy with it. I bought the 7'11 in bamboo and it is still holding together extremely well. I'm 5'9 and probably too heavy at 93kgs and it floats me great. The deck is slightly sinking at my foot positions but not excessive at all and I have used it weekly since purchase 6 months ago. Like I said I'm probably too heavy anyway, but I wanted the shorter length to try and relive my youth and throw the board around again which is easy as with this board. It was my post as well where we held the carbon and bammboo in each hand and thought the bamboo was a fraction lighter. I was happily going to buy the carbon for the added strength but went with the bamboo for the great price and I got to keep my old board for the kids instead of trading it in. For a cheaper board to save some dollars instaed of the flash ones, I can't praise the evoke enough for wave catching ability, standing stability and turns on the wave.
Ps I don't have any connection with the company at all and have visited both the goldy stores as well as the Moolooaba store but usually atted the sunny coast, but can't praise their staff enough for assistance and extremely happy with my purchases. I think it's good to praise where appropriate as it's hard to get some decent service these days.
