Hey Everyone, recently made a Wooden SUP and really just posting in the hope someone can offer some advice. I want to find a way to reduce the weight of board while increasing strength (this board is more prone to cracking then my other PU boards). Below is a quick description to give you an idea of the board. Due to my weight (81kg) the board is a little light on volume so would like to maybe flick it onto someone who would be keen to buy it and to who it is better suited to (tends more to the high performance board design).

Hollow Wooden Paddle board made completely by hand. I have taken the board out for one session where I caught a few waves to ensure that the board actually does work. Board road very well to the point where I forgot that it was made from wood as it felt just like my other boards. Volume of 105L and weighs 11.00kg. Length of 8ft 5inches. Width of 29inches at widest point

The board consists of a frame made from marine plywood (ribs and centre stringer), covered by Paulownia Balsa strips which were thicknessed to 8mm.

The rails are solid Paulownia Balsa. The front third is a very soft 50/50 with the central third transitioning from a 50/50 to a 60/40 before the tail third flows from the 60/40 into a sharp edge at the tail.

P.S. If you want to see more photos of the board to get a better idea of its shape just email me :)

Looks nice.. and great job.. Did you put a layer of fiberglass over it or just varnish or epoxy?

Cheers, Yeah there is a bottom coat of epoxy then a middle layer resin and fibreglass before putting on a final coat of resin to make it smooth.
