Well its funny you should ask
I have been riding the 9'1 x 29" lately and have been loving it. At first I thought it was gonna be a tough board to get use to as my board of choice is the 11'2 x 30". But the first time I took out the 9'1 x 29" a couple of weekends ago it made me want more. Seriously, you know how you always tell yourself just one more wave? Well that went on for a couple of hours The only reason why I came in was because the break got too crowded
Anyway, if anyone knows Main Break down south then you will know that its a fun and challenging wave. The first time I have ever SUP surfed it. The 9'1 fitted right at home. It paddled great in the strongish offshore winds and powered down the wave with heaps of speed and drive especially if I got myself in the middle of the board, side stance, using heaps of front foot pressure, a few paddles and away it went
The surgeons table was no match for me hahaha. Riding high on the wave over the table and into the channel was a hoot.
And you know how on the very inside of the reef as you paddle out through the key hole and into the channel?... well there was a little knee high reform that I played around on before I went in. The 9'1 glides excellent, picking up tiny swells easily. Kinda what I didnt expect to do on it.
One short boarder that I was having a chat to out the back paddled in and watched me get a couple of little rippers right into the key hole. And you wanna know what he said to me? He said "Your having too much fun on that board, please stop, its making me and the boys out the back very jealous hahaha".
And if you know Gracetown and how flat it gets in there when there is no swell, I was getting some waves breaking in front of that big rock at South Point the day before. Super fun and all on my lonesome hehehe. Huzzas had a knee high unbreaking ripple and once again the 9'1 with a couple of extra hard paddles was able to glide along.
Well sorry about the rant but if you have anything specific you would like to know I might be able to answer it for you Surfrod
One stoked Greenroom Anyone want to buy an 11'2
Hey Greenroom, did you buy the 9'1" or just trying it out? Do you know where I can find one to demo? I can't find a second hand 2008 9'8" after several months of searching, so I might as well use my time wisely and try everything there is to offer to make sure I get exactly what I want.
Be worthwhile shooting an email to Scott at greenline paddle surf - he has been surfing the new 9'0 and the 7'11 for a couple of weeks now and he'll give you a no B/S opinion on the board.
