Don't know about you guys, but I've already had enough of this winter caper!! Found some shots on my hard drive from the end of summer.
Board is Surefire 10'6" Zeusman
currently in Vico we're on 4/3 suit with hoodies and soon around July & August the boots and gloves will join the party
As someone who is an early intermediate at best I much prefer winter . I hate crowds . Too dangerous and too stressful.
As an example during the December and January school holidays I surfed once the whole summer down at the local city beach in southern sydney . Luckily I got away for a few weeks down south coat and more than made up for it with nearly session a day for 10 days.
Since May I have been in 11 times. So much better when it's cold . Much less stress and actually better for those trying to improve
HELL YES!
Try being in NZ at the moment.
Still two two more months before the place even starts to think about warming up!
We keep getting colder in the water until November it seems.
Over the whole winter thing, I think Scotts Head is as far south as I should be after May.
In my dreams
Mick just back from a surf at lunch at boomer, can report crowds have disappeared since the surf nsw comp last weekend at the north end. Water still warmish, looks like the banks at the break wall are starting to line up. Boomer was empty mon-thursday last week with no one out.
Early westerlies up untill lunchtime friday to sunday. Swell dropping though. Camp Elim has also been working a lot in the last couple of weeks, Enjoy.
I am back in Sydney for mates 40th.
Argh just reread your post looks like new swell is coming Monday/Tuesday so you might get some nice waves.
Solid swell all week with the howling south westerlys.
Still seeing chicks in binkini bottoms...
Love winter
I struggle during Winter, not due to the cold, storms, swell or actually anything to do with the surf conditions.
It is just too dark to get a dawny in before work, its killing me, production at work is down, I'm crankier at home etc... ha ha
Life is better the more you surf, the good news is that the sun is clawing its way back to getting up earlier, 3 minutes or so each day starts to add up, in a month or so i will be able to paddle before work again
Yep,
So as a long suffering Vico Im escaping to Bali for two weeks.... but dont trust the cargo boys so the creek staying in hibernation and the old 8'8 JP wide is getting a holiday...
Mick quasi local I am usually up there for half the year and in Sydney working the rest. The boomer guys are all solid as are the foster crew.
Enjoy boomer as its so nice this time of the year.
