My first time attending an Aussie Titles for the marathon, tricky conditions but good fun, all the elements thrown in for the race, down wind, up wind, flat water. Great vibe on the beach before and after the race. I reckon Surfing Aus put on a good event. My only dig is the timing of the event. made it very very hard for those elite guys that just got off a plane from the U.S and holding the whole event during the week makes it hard for many to attend. a Thurs to sun or Fri to Mon would be ideal for punters.
Talking to the boys who did the BOP most said it was one of the hardest BOP racers they have ever done. for the surfing it looked small but from the photos they all ripped! Off to WA for the event next year, I am sure WA will put on a cracker event, SUP seems to be blowing up over there big time!
BOP vid:
To all the knockers and fence sitters.................. that was a bloody excellent event this year.
Surfing Queensland and Surfing Aust worked there rings off and smashed it for a six.
Personally I couldn't fault it, well done!
PS WA have got a lot of work to match that.
OK I've got the ask what that guy was riding in surfing clip one,it had wings?
I reckon that's the Finding Nemo pro-model? Definitely interesting!!!!

Gotta agree with you Jonesey. The knockers are the guys who have probably never organised an event....and most weren't even there. Going on social media and giving the event a bad wrap did nothing for their personal credibility but it did give us a great topic of conversation over a few beers at the presso. You're never going to keep everyone happy. For those of us there the vibe was unreal. The eventual winners were the best guys anyway.
It's hard to get outside SUP sponsors for an event so a big thank you to Toyota and the Currumbin RSL Surfing Australia did an amazing job and the event ran like clock work. Thanks to the Qld crew who made us so welcome and the guys that kept going to late on Thursday night, thanks for keeping me so well hydrated post race.
The vibe will now continue at King of the Cut.
While I'm here. A big thank you to Andy Davies for his leadership and organisational skills in getting NSW to an overall State Team victory. It was a long time coming.
