So the Australian Masters Games for Over 30s is coming to Victoria (Geelong) in October, and the website indicates that the following sports are represented:

Archery
Athletics
Badminton
Baseball
Basketball
Boxing
Canoe/Kayak
Cricket
Cue Sports (billiards/snooker)
Cycling
Darts
Dragon Boat
Drill Dance (WTF?)
Equestrian
Football (AFL)
Football (Soccer)
Futsal (indoor soccer?)
Golf
Gymnastics
Hillclimb
Hockey
Indoor Cricket
Judo
Karting
Lacrosse
Lawn Bowls
Netball (indoor and outdoor) (there's a difference?)
Pool Lifesaving (WTF?)
Powerlifting
Racquetball
Rowing
Rowing (Indoor) (are they making **** up here?)
Rugby Union
Sailing
Shooting (clay, fullbore, smallbore, pistol, air rifle)
Softball
Squash
Surfing (short board, long board, knee board) (are you for real? knee boards got a look in?)
Swimming
Table Tennis
Taekwondo
Tenpin Bowling
Tennis
Touch Football
Tug of War (seriously? that can't be a sport)
Ultimate Frisbee (no, come on, you're taking the piss)
Volleyball (beach and indoor)
Woodchopping

Now apart from a few seriously ridiculous sports getting a gig, it occurs to me that SUP Surfing and Racing are glaring omissions. The majority of our participants fall into this age bracket so we'd be a perfect fit. And with surfing involved, you'd think someone would have twigged.

This is a biennial event so we need to have our national peak body arguing for our inclusion in 2015.

pt woody , knee boards .... for real man !! way more for real than flat water SUP , although flat water sup may rival canoe/ kayak for audience boredom factor.

PT Woody,

Love your annotations!

I'd also add to those sports in the list deserving ridicule:
Karting (basically just a pissweak form of air and noise pollution)
Equestrian (when the people carry the horses on their backs, then they can call it a sport!)

FYI- yes futsal is a type of five-a-side indoor soccer, and is actually a decent sport.

To add sup surfing and racing I would suggest they drop a few events such as:
Archery
Athletics
Badminton
Baseball
Basketball
Boxing
Canoe/Kayak
Cricket
Cue Sports (billiards/snooker)
Cycling
Darts
Dragon Boat
Drill Dance (WTF?)
Equestrian
Football (AFL)
Football (Soccer)
Futsal (indoor soccer?)
Golf
Gymnastics
Hillclimb
Hockey
Indoor Cricket
Judo
Karting
Lacrosse
Lawn Bowls
Netball (indoor and outdoor) (there's a difference?)
Pool Lifesaving (WTF?)
Powerlifting
Racquetball
Rowing
Rowing (Indoor) (are they making **** up here?)
Rugby Union
Sailing
Shooting (clay, fullbore, smallbore, pistol, air rifle)
Softball
Squash
Swimming
Table Tennis
Taekwondo
Tenpin Bowling
Tennis
Touch Football
Tug of War (seriously? that can't be a sport)
Ultimate Frisbee (no, come on, you're taking the piss)
Volleyball (beach and indoor)
Woodchopping

Damn straight - and what's stopping these karting "masters" competing in the open division, other than the embarrassment of the other competitors being children!

Have you guys seen some of the old farts fanging around the shopping centres on their ride on buggys, watch out Webber.

I say they should update the format "toilet rolls half price in isle 14" and let them fight it out to see how's first through the register!!

PT, instead of having a whinge about it, why dont you take it to the organisers of the Master games. Id bet my left nut no one from the SUP community has asked the question or put the idea forward to the powers that be.......

Those other sports are there because they have the not only the numbers but the those that suppotrt their cause and do something about it. I would also think that finacial considerations come into it. ATM SUP clubs would be in no way be able to put forward any moneies needed for leg work etc

just my opinion of coarse

You're right of course and I really should have included something in my opening gambit along the lines of...

"This is a biennial event so we need to have our national peak body arguing for our inclusion in 2015."

That's a bizarre response. I think you're reading way too much into things and jumping at shadows. I might consider certain sports at the Masters Games to be a joke but I think the event itself is very worthy and I am genuine in saying we need to collectively push for SUP inclusion.
