Hey mate, heaps of places to visit in Bali that are Sup friendly....
I have been to Bali many times and always stay in Legian for some or all of the time. Up the coast from Kuta so out of the real rat race but close to the best shopping and nightlife. The Melasti Beach Resort, Puri Raja are nice places to stay or the Nikosama if you want up market. All are on the beach and reasonably priced and there are heaps more a street back at even better prices. Legian beach normally has a good fun beach break wave at that time of the year but it is not Ulluwatu. I am headed there again in May and will be checking out Medewi... long left hander off a point break. Another great spot on this side is Canggu (Chungu / Echo Beach).... holds a large swell and great for Sup. You will need to take board there and it is out of town but worth the drive.

On the other side of the island is Sanur and Benoa... Have stayed there but not surfed it yet. Heaps of breaks again (more right hand if that is your preference) and prob even more Sup friendly. The Sup schools are over there and I have hired a Jimmy Lewis board from Jankie over in Sanur. His boards are a bit older but the price is awesome and he will deliver to your hotel for a small fee. Can all be organised by email before you go and he will hire for long term. I have seen one of the surf schools in Sanur is hiring Smik boards but have not used these guys.... apparently the price is a bit higher but the boards are quite new.

If you want to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle, Nusa Lembongan has some great breaks if the swell is on. Its a boat trip over and you will have to take a board from the mainland (some sup there but larger sizes only last time I was there) but really chilled...

You are going to have a blast...

Garuda in my experience.... they have the best luggage policy and even a 9'6' is not a problem..... Internally I have also flown Air Asia and no prob there either...

Few years back a mate was held up with a short mini mal (sub 8') by Jetstar.... That's one I would avoid.

Got to make sure you prep your board though.....

That's crazy!! Did they drop it out the plane before landing or run it over with the baggage trailer?

Ouch ...some idiots put it through the baggage belt....

supmoari ,don't drink the water mate ,unless bottled ..or brush teeth ..they have bugs that we can't handle .
i found out the hard way ...just drink beer .

indo has great waves .i when after watching tubular swells the movie .had ulluwatu ...amazing ..you can hear the barrel barrelling behind you ...so hollow .,it has a resort there now ,so can be crowded.i also recommend legian.north of kuta.

they are crazy drivers ...they overtake overtaking cars ...enjoy .take tuk tuk.(3 wheel .taxi)
you pretty much have to barter for most things .

Starby 9'5 x 32 from Melbourne with Qantas and Air Asia from Darwin, no problems.
Airport rights has mix of waves ,you can paddle out or get a boat with Priority Sup to Sup breaks?
Go the bottle water, fresh coconut , street food from local busy vendors, learn basic please/thankyou , chill, ENJOY.
Jetstar is >6'0

Just got email updater from Ben n Criss @ Bali Sup Rental ,Jimbaran.
They have a variety of new Sup boards.
Also now have Foil boards and lessons .
Easy-to-use guys, have a beach shop open from 7 to 7 daily. Delivered / swaps / pickup / repair ( jagged a bommy) twice to Canngu / Echo beach,
last time we stayed Jimbaran so we could paddle the bay n try different types of waves n boards .
Jankie is easy too, just phone / whatsapp first . ask him what best daily options are. Got a new JL paddle (re bommy) easy sorted.
Enjoy
