I suppose its okay.......but a vid like this has possibly very little relevance to the average bloke who wants to paddle out on a saturday morning and catch a wave or two?
average people don't tow surf......average people don't get paid to surf.......they just do it for fun?
Kai Lenny ain't average, but he is still human! I think it is OK to recognize that what he did was fricken AMAZING. What an experience it must be to surf like that on mountains of water that could kill you if you make a mistake. Tow-in or now, foot-straps or not, professional or not - that was cool!!
Nice reply Brian i reckon you are so on it, Pines is just like that and like you im seeing myself the same at the shorebreak, hey we can dream Enjoy
I see a guy enjoying that wave as much if not more than I enjoy a clean 4 ft, I see a guy so into the moment and so tuned to that wave he is making it look easy . Triple thumbs up in my opinion just ENJOY the clip for what it is
Not usually a fan of tow-in..... but I am now, that board allowed Kai to surf serious conditions like he was carving up 6' lowers!
Airs, hopping off the lip, on a super critical drop...... and casually backdoor a massive tube..... new level Kai!!!!
That tweaked air with a rail grab is just sublime! Kai Lenny was competing in the Aloha Classic wavesailing competition at Ho'okipa the week before and just stormed through the heats to get 4th. Now this is a guy who doesn't focus on wavesailing but rips and goes out beating some of the best. He windsurfs with a unique style which is very confident and loose and you see that in his tow surfing.
Bring back tow surfing at Jaws. Only a few pronies look good and they try and get barrelled, the rest just take the hell drop and straighten out and head for the channel. Tow surfers actually surf the wave and Kai has it dialed.
best tow surfing i ever did see--now i dont spend hours watching tow on the net, but kai is amazing
he does it all, and he does all of it beyond well
we will hear more from kai...............and he is legitimizing sup
not sure how i feel about that--kinda like latinos here in US voting for Trump--i love my sup bro's, but when i am the only sup in a crowded lineup, and 4 sups paddle out.................maybe i dont love so much...........?
caught some big cleanup set waves yesterday--cold rainy small crowd strong offshores--me the only sup as usual--generally i have no issues, but few friends--yesterday in the parking lot, some ripping shortboarders gave me props--said weve seen you for years, you are doing legit **** out there--i was floored--doubt i would have heard this if i were one of 5 sups out--less proner hate and one is accountable only for one's own behavior
