I know this topic has virtually nothing to do with SUP but after all the paddling i had done for the last 4 months i was asked by some guys if i would be interested in competing in the Dragon Boat Racing at our local state masters games held here in Port Pirie. Since i'm only 32 they had me in the Future Masters section which is 29 to 40 age group. We had 3 races during the day and won 2 and coming 2nd in the third which shocked us all as there was only 2 out of the team of 10 that actually had done this before. We walked away with a gold medal and i had to have a paddle when it was all over just because of how calm it was.
I think after all the SUPing i've been doing lately that this helped me heaps as i didn't pull up sore at all the next dayAlso it was a good cross training for SUP.......lol
anyway here are a few pic's of the day.
This was us crossing the finish line first
While there i got to meet one of my favourite basketballers Brett Maher who play's for the Adelaide 36ers. He was there as an ambassador for the games which run for a week.
Cheers and i hope you don't mind me posting this here.
Nice..I'd love to do one of those one day..Do you get to keep the paddle?
BTW..That last pic..You haven't got your hand on his bum have you?...
DJ
No definately all back DJ, didn't get to keep the paddle but some of the other teams had all carbon paddles which were so much lighter than than the wood ones we were using. I think ours were maybe a bit waterlogged
