Hey Chickenstix, I know I am late on this call but can you bring down another bumbag pfd1 and flare??
Hi Chicken Stix I'm even later on the call but I would stoked if you could supply a PDF 1 bbag at rego

Hey Goochi, this is a great concept and the person who thought up the idea needs to be applauded.
Not everyone wants to race nor do they have the experience to get out there sometimes. But to have the availability of pairing is a fantastic idea. Well done you guys.
I have had a strict no races policy. But I would change my mind for something like this. You guys have obviously put a lot of thought and planning into it.
Great work.
ET.

It was a team effort, but the initiative for the event came from the sponsor - Fig restaurants - great place to eat! and Ian from Starboard Australia. Roger Goodwin is the event co-ordinator and we developed the idea of a mentoring event to increase participation in downwinding - WA are so lucky over summer with our DW conditions and we'd love to get more people enjoying it in a supportive environment.
The Fig2Fig and our monthly PaddleLoops are our non-competitive events. Great thing about SUP as you know, is there is something for everyone - so we have to ensure we are catering events to this diversity.
Hope you can make over this side of Oz one day for a DW!
Where do we need to go to rego and at what time?
Naked Fig in Swanny, Rego starts at 12:30 - 1:30
It was tough driving into work seeing the wind blowing the trees and all these cars headin in the opposite direction with boards on the roof. Have a fun one guys,
Wish I could join you.
Well it was an eventful one for me. The SIC 17' Bullet loved chasing the runs left and right and for the first 12ish kms I was surprised how well my plan to just relax and go after the sure things went.
Then the rudder cable pin broke and I limped on a little while on my knees until the last paddler went past and I realised I'd just hold people up waiting for me. I waved down the maritime boat and told them I'd go into the shore. That was a bit iffy with no rudder so I basically got dumped and rolled and dragged 4 or 5 times then staggered out of the surf straight onto a nudist beach. Only two 'old fellas' there but naturally I got their attention and the full view. They didn't seem to have a mobile on them so I flagged down a passing fisherman and tried his phone. Left a message and found out later he called again but miscommunicated where I was. Spent a while on the beach - eventually tried another guy's phone who's first sentence to me was 'sorry I wasn't shouting at you - having all these gay guys around is making it really hard for me as I've just stopped taking adhd meds and I gotta go'. There were quite a lot of male couples emerging from the dunes. Anyway I eventually staggered back into the Naked Fig - could have used a few of those where I was. Never racing without my own phone and case and cr card again.
All was good once I got a pint (thanks Starboard!).
What is better than a bit of glory and a tale to tell and some good mates? Not much except doing it again next week at the King of the Cut...
Thanks to the sponsors. Great event and so cool to see so many paddlers out.
PS Sam/WSS don't suppose you've got some rudder pedal pins you could send over before the race next weekend? It snapped at the drilled hole. You would be saving a soul.
I would like to say some thankyous to the sponsors, competitors and volunteers who helped make our most successful event happen. The Fig Group who have been very supportive and progressive in their approach, The Fig To Fig has been a massive success in introducing the sport of down wind paddling to new participants, thanks guys, the mentoring worked really well, I must congratulate our experienced paddlers who helped the newcomers down the first leg of the course, the response from the new and aprehensive paddlers has been overwhelming and well received. Ian Grosse is a legend and Starboard continue to support our events with consistency and great generosity, thank you , I also need to mention the Fremantle Sea rescue who provided water coverage down the course they also coordinated with Whitfords Sea rescue to cover the northern leg, you guys do an outstanding job thank you so much. Wezzy Stansfield provided his personal vessel, skippered by Nic Heah, a legendary effort guys , all the SUPWA crew and volunteers dug in and did a crakin job as usual, Big Ben Farmer my right hand man your a legend thanks for your IT skills and help have fun in Brasil, Luke and Michelle Jenkins you guys are the backbone of SUPWA and awesome things happen when you are involved, all in all it takes a lot of work to put these events together and to see the smiles and sense of achievement on the faces of those who competed makes it all worth it, I also need to mention the patience of my wife Soph who puts up with the hours of meetings and my time away from home, thanks honey, see you all at the king of the cut next week....
Hear Hear to that Rog!!
Another brilliant effort by The Fig & SUPWA team to put together an awesome event.
Certain to be an annual highlight in the events calendar.
An absolute pleasure to be a part of...outstanding!
Congrats + best wishes to all those involved.
Hoot mate!

If it's anything like today's swell the shore break should provide some entertainment
You called it!! The shore break certainly was very interesting.
On the up side, Great race though!!
The Fig to Fig would have to go down as one of the best SUPWA events yet - and that's saying something when you consider all the great events SUPWA have put on in their short history !! The level of organisation, the commitment by the sponsors, the turn out of competitors, and the general feeling of stoke was truly amazing. Us SUPers in WA are very fortunate indeed.

Take a bow SUPWA Crew.
AWESOME event.
Huge thanks to the Fig Cafe cafe for putting up so many great prizes. Top food, great location.
Great to see so many of the states more experienced paddlers hanging back and giving advise and support to the new comers, and everyone waiting at the finish line to cheer others in. I have never seen so many new faces at a SUP event before in WA.
Thanks to Starboard also for the pick a prize table. Top job SUPWA crew.
great event - well done to Rog for running a tight ship ably assisted by his first mate Ben. Awesome vibe and lots of smiles.
For those that are getting into SUP and found the conditions a little challenging - don't worry, it's all about getting out and having a go and there is no better opportunity than the SUPWA PaddleLoop run by the Canning Bridge Pod on Saturday the 14th of December.
Race it, cruise it, chill it - just don't stop or go backwards. A great fun little event and one with a little Christmas flavour. Check out details here:
