This is the 1st prototype, which I have tested and worked with Bert Berger at Sunova to fine tune some features.
My final version was delayed and won't get to me till the end of August, so I figured I'd give you a sneak peak at what I have got so far.
There is one truly different feature that I won't divulge until I do a full review on my updated version... but I will say that it blows me away how well it is helping this stoked 75 year old SUPster stay in the game!!
To keep myself moving forward as I age, my goal has ALWAYS been to surf better this year, than last.
I am not ready to glide into the sunset quite yet!
That is a big hill to climb when you are past the 75 year mark, so this design is very specifically dedicated to make snappier, easier turns while staying powered up to avoid my old man stutters.
I am after stability and performance without having to go to a big board.
It must work in my softer Florida waves as well as my awesome Cape Cod surf.
Yesterday I weighed in at 110 kg and my friend remarked how solid I looked on my 9'1 Ghost while standing around in between sets.
I think we pulled it off and I am anxiously waiting for the updated version.
Board looked nice and responsive and that empty lineup lovely.
You are the inspiration to us kids that hope for a ways to go yet, thanks.
Interesting name behind the board rick???? I cant wait to find out all the dims. options and story behind the name. It also looks fast when ridden from the middle of the board, a bit like the old creek on a good day.
Great stuff Creeky - still carving and cruising - the new board looks like it flows good man.
Don't worry mate, you've got plenty left in the tank yet. The way you're going, you'll still be ripping cutties while the rest of us are lining up for hip replacements, playing bingo and eating pureed potatoes.
And remember, old surfers never die, they just go down the tube!!
Yeeeew!!!
Hey Creek. new shape looks like it engages well on the bottom turns and generates some speed down the line. Looks nice and comfortable under foot on the wave too.
Keep coming up with new shapes for us to enjoy.

Thanks J!
I haven't heard from your brother... have him contact me so we can get him into SUPlife!!
looking like a winner Creek ,good speed and looseness ,looks like a friendly Ghost ,
It is Casper for sure Tardy!
Are you back in the water yet my friend???
Bless those sharks!
True Dat!!
Although people are getting a lot more complacent the past few years and the line-up gets busy 2 hours after sunrise... so at least I get in a few hours before the crowd will venture out.

Dave, you picked up on one of the Ghost strong points!!
I made up the name in one second.... totally unplanned.
Bert and Tino were determined to get "Creek" in the name and I was dead against it.
I didn't want to spend 5 years explaining that it was a totally new design theory, so when Bert and I finished our last Zoom style shaping session, he started to fill in the file name as "Creek" something and I said NO!!
Bert said "I have to name it something!!"
So I blurted out "Ghost"
Which I actually love
Why?
As we worked through the design process, I would bring up features I liked from different boards and he would explain why they did what they did... and then he would lay a light blue outline of the board being compared, under the black line of the board we were shaping.
He always referred to the light blue line as the ghost.
Since we used 4 or 5 boards for discussion purposes during the design process, I figured the board was designed with help from ghosts..... so "Ghost" appeared to me as the logical name.
Great stuff Creeky - still carving and cruising - the new board looks like it flows good man.

Dang Dingoman... where have you been?? I have missed your unique banter and good cheer!!!
and yeah.... I am definitely going down the tube
Well, you hit the nail on the head.... I had to come up with ways to make a board slash cutties easier.
Everything about this board is about allowing me to still perform as I run up against a decaying body.
Speed is the one thing I need to maintain my rhythm on a wave, so we built that in... then took the sticky bits out of different performance designs to aid me in my goal to always surf better.
This board may be the first board designed from the ground up, completely from the perspective of an aging rider looking to make performance surfing easier. This will make it easier for riders at every skill level to rip on this board.
There is one thing that is a game changer IMO....
an old idea of Bert's that the surf "shaping community" resisted, but I absolutely LOVE.
Remember:
it took the surf world 10 years to accept Tom Blakes idea of using a fin on a surfboard.
Surfers are slow to accept change.
luckily..... I am a SUPster
Bert's concept from 20 years ago, is the special sauce that makes this board different from anything I have ever ridden.
I will reveal it when I approve my updated version and do a full review.... probably in early September when the swells start pumping on Cape Cod.
The next version will also sport a black and gray deckpad... it will highlight the darker board colors better than the current one.

Thanks wazza,
Yes, my 9'1 is very comfortable for me at 110 kg
It is fast and very solid through turns.... so I am a happy man!
Hi Rick...will you still be using the Quobbas?
Absolutely. Quobba's are on the Ghost!
I have been thinking that I should run it with some standard fins to see how the Ghost surfs without Quobba's, since some people will just surf the stock fins.

They have a quad set coming out next...but I'm waiting for their first 7 inch single fin which is planned. I'm still a 2+1 guy
STC,will this new design cater for us 70+y/o lightweights 75/ 80 kg,ah I love these teasers, like a new car design, will you be walking to the beach ect with block out ,abstract camouflage on board!.seriously Rick ,as someone who loves watching a thought come to life in a shaping bay( now a computer screen )you are living the dream having access to a world renown shaper, well done ,looking forward to the result .

Sounds unreal Creeky!! Very excited to see the reveal when you're ready to go. The Ghost sounds sick.Yeah man, I'm still here - I have been checking the Breeze on and off but have been slack on the threads. I've been flat out with work and life has a habit of getting in the way at times eh. Definitely need to recalibrate. Still getting waves mate, and had the Speeed out for the dawny this morning for some nice sliders. Geez they're good boards eh.
I've started foiling which has been a next level revelation.
I had a yarn with Dylan and have picked up a sweet 7'3 Sunova sup foil stick. Foiling's a magic carpet ride that's hard to describe how insane the feeling is eh!! So fast and quiet when you're on foil - leaves you jabbering and chuckling to yourself like a madman
But, now there's a new Ghost on the way , I'm super keen to check it out!! Love that you've dialled up the speed and flow elements in the Ghost - I find these are the two elements that I'm chasing more and more.
Make sure you keep us across the release date man - this is big news and definitely need to keep an eye on this one!!!
Up the Ghost!!! Awoooooo!!!!

Hi Addman, yes it was designed to deliver great performance, accommodating the challenges of age....
BUT, that just ups the performance level for younger rippers as well.
The secret sauce is hiding in plain sight... you would look right at it and have no idea that anything was different
Standard size range - (but you can get any length you want)
final volume numbers will be run after I approve version 2 for production
7'11 x 28.3" around 97 liters
to
9'6 x 34 around 168 liters

Love reading your posts Dingoman!
Don't hit any crocks on the foil thingy.... and I'll post up when the Ghost is ready to appear
This new Ghost scares me a bit ,I'm superstitious .
your Ghost will live forever ,
No to your question Creek, my boards are still resting ,I think this weekend i will launch .
can't wait to see the finial drawings and sizes of the new Ghost rider ,
Awesome Rick
Can't wait for the new sup release as both my husband and I love our Creek's that rock in any conditions and up the fun factor.
Yep i've got a smaller, other brand sup, but guess what, it stays in the garage and out come the creeks!
I hope you have some nice colours for the ghost, as i love the colours of the creek sups?
Happy Supping

Hi Chickadee, you are so awesome and kind... thank you!!
It may be pretty cool looking with the darker black tint highlights in the wood grain, paired with a gray/black deckpad... but you can always order any color you want, just have to dig a bit deeper into the purse
I saw a picture of the updated Ghost today, all glassed with darker tint.... looks striking!

Looking at The nose it looks similar to the placid which I loved the stability of ,pity it was too slow
I'm hanging off buying a board now till I see this Ghost .
Dam Rick been a long time since I commented on the Sup forum but just had to say this. That outline profile for 32.5" wide is really nice and how well does it sit in the pocket it just turns so well with the flow of a narrower board , must be a bit going on with the rocker & rail profile as well to do that. Well done to you and Bert just nailed it. Have to also say at 75 mate you are still stylin/rippin and looking way younger than your years . Props to you big fella , keep sharing the stoke.

Hi Tardy...
You are correct, the 9'1 Ghost is a very stable board per size, through the use of width coupled with the overall outline that has a user friendly nose shape, rather than the very pointy nose of some Performance shapes that I like.
The secret sauce in this board enables the Ghost to get the same snappy turns as the pointy nose boards, without the "sticky bits"
One of the primary goals of the Ghost is to produce instant speed in low power by having less rocker in the tail, coupled with hard edges from the tail to the front fin area.
Tardy.... you have such a great slash back that you may have to dial down a bit because it won't take the same effort as other boards

Rob, I am more than stoked to see you back on the SUP pages... if even a fleeting moment, you have given us so much over the years.
Thanks for your observations and thoughts legend, they are much appreciated!
Tease, tease, tease,I like to look at the premium sup.brand Facebook pages, and found Bert showing what he describes as a new model!..could these be ghostly lmages !!!placid like nose ,creek like tail ,no channels, plenty of width, maybe futures fin system?a very nice looking board!!!
