What's the general etiquette with fisherman....in particular kontiki fishing? Don't get me wrong, I love fishing (maybe not so much kontiki fishing but that's another debate) & I get that it's all about sharing the ocean however, I've had several morning sessions where I've been forced to move further down the beach & miss out on some decent waves (our local is a beach break which shifts all over the place) purely because there were some lines in the water.

Do you show some common courtesy (which is what I've done up until now) although it sux knowing that some decent waves are going unridden or do you simply ignore the perils of getting hooked (let-a-lone anything that might be feeding off something already hooked) + aggravating the fishermen?

Yesterday morning, some numpty rocked up & started casting not far from where a few of us were sitting/standing in the line-up. It's the 1st time this has happened so we all paddled approx 20m further down the beach however, we were all very tempted to snap his line!

Either they cast a lot further in sheep shagger land or you are really close to the beach???

Not really an issue here as they fish on the inside and we surf out the back. Interferes with my sons skimboarding though.

How about you try;
"Ey bru, thirs no waves in the crik, but thirs fush in thi crik, so how bout yas fak orf cuz n fush en thi crik!"
That should do the trick.

fishing we have a issue is the motorised type pulling up to 2.5 km of line behind it and depending on what the are after can be set with floats to fish bottom of closer to surface, noticed on at the beach this morning and he set up right in the middle of the SUP's and were the waves are. We have a reasonable beach it's 6 km long and evrything is morning was in the same 300 m spot

Hilly - it's not so much the casting but as kitemantim mentions, those kontikis haul line out >2km & the owners get agitated if you go anywhere near their lines.

Brenno - nice one - I'll try & remember that next time (haha)

Basically, I should just surf where the hell I want & if I get nabbed by a hook, then I've only got myself to blame
