Hi Guys,

Thinking about planning some weekends away to do some casual racing around the East Coast. Paddle mostly flat water and interested in anything 5km +.

What are the suggestions for a good fun weekend?

cheers,

Toby

Thanks guys! Would say for anyone else the Sunday morning 5km paddle in Narrabeen near Sydney is great fun with a campsite nearby. Lots of boards to be hired too if you don't feel like bringing kit. Have had >70 people turn up in the summer.

cheers,

Toby

Toby, you should definitely consider the Surftech Classic in Vic. 2 years ago Ev Green and myself went down and last year another 15 or so from NSW joined us. The club is loosely organising a group to head down so speak to Evan or Paul at the lake on Sunday. Paul, Sam P and myself won't make it this year but there'll still be a solid crew from our club and the Central Coast heading down.

The after race spa makes the trip worthwhile in itself.

I'll be putting more info up on the club FB page shortly.

HI Toby

Come to Vicco for the SUP Winter Classic - you're assured of a "warm" welcome - John is right - the after SUP spa on the saturday afternoon is the highlight of the weekend.

We've had some great conditions lately and have been paddling the courses - especially the 6km "Sawtooth SUP" race on Sunday August 10 - which goes through five surf zones.

We did a run yesterday from Flinders to Shoreham - and got a run of over one minute on the last wave of the course.

Check the course and some video footage out here!

Hope you can make it!

Get a team together and come to the BGCC 24 hour challenge

SUPs have been the growth category at this competition, and we look forward to hosting more interstate teams this year.

Is there anything (BOP or Flatwater races) south of Sydney?

You just missed a bop style race at burril lake, which was on last Saturday. Jervis bay sup club have been hosting a few small races of late also.
Further ahead there are the 'races' at the mambo, or the merimbula classic as we are supposed to call it now.

Toby,
We put up a race , training and event calendar on The Sydney Paddle Surfing Club'd Face Book page on a regular basis. Paul Matthews and myself try to update it fortnightly. Anything coming up is listed and I know there are a few events in the near future. It covers all of the major races in Oz. "Like" the page and you'll have the updates as they come out.

Merimbula is a must unless you're heading to WA for the Doctor which is on the same date,

Cheers
JE
