What an amazing view from that camera gizmo thing on your head.

Board looks super fast and responsive.

Well done Porchey.

Thanks for posting porchey. About a week or so ago Casso posted a vid (on request) of him paddling out and just standing in the surf on his Minion. Would love to see how you do the same if you get a chance.

Thanks ...Yeah that should be easy.. I have footage of that already but I am new to this video editing stuff. The board is designed by Aaron Bitmead (who is my brother in law) under the Gulliver label. I know he has been changing things around ie bottom vees and fins, rocker lines etc. with this design now for a long time now with Simon. This board is 7'5" and 95 litres and I am 82 kgs on a good day. I stand up on it for hours on a session and have moved on from my other style of board as it is quicker lighter and turns faster. I will have to find out the other dimensions... I will put them up tomorrow. I feel very lucky to have surfed this board and am very excited about it..

Just give Damien Gulliver a call at his shop at Burleigh Heads. He will fill you in on the history of it all..This board is shaped by Aaron Bitmead. It is a custom board which suits me well but I am waiting for a 7'3" one at present and was given this one to try out as Aaron is injured at the moment and can't surf. He surfs very well on it and he is 95 kgs ...we are working on fin sizes for different surfer weights.

Sweet and loose! Looks like a dream ride.

Gotta respect your skills, only 10l above your weight and Aaron at equal weight to liters!
My limit seems to be about plus 20 and that's only enjoyable when it's perfect.

And that camera mount, nice angle. Pretty cool how it seemed to swing into the right spot each turn.

The waves are perfect - I guess you could surf on the backdoor of the kitchen or even on the kitchen sink in those waves.

Thanks for the positivity regarding the helmet camera.. It is homemade and I am very proud of it!!... The camera shots are super cool hey... Only caught 4 to 5 waves before battery ran out so I am really pleased with what it looks like...Ok I have just ventured into the boardroom and these are the dimensions (7'5"x 26.5x4.25) I am running a quad setup with nubster in the back.

Hi porchey about fins , today for a session in 2 foot waves i report that i change from H2 large in front for H2 medium leaving the 2rears one same position and size (medium). So it goes more cranky down bottom turn and more drive in the face with the full H2 set in medium size. The medium size allows me to bury rail, wing and tail easier before the large front fin make me to much flying on the front fin surface rather than the planning area of the board.

I'm 78kg and my board is 6'4" 82liters.

Nice vid thx

It is the rider that dishpans, not the board :-)

porchey73: Really nice video, and camera setup.

Kami yes, I tried my Simmons in quad and it was horrible, the board wanted to turn too early before setting a rail properly. It works on pulled in tails, but wide tails benefit from fins quite far back I guess.

Great vid angles. Love the way it swings around rather than being in the fixed position. Any chance of a photo of the helmet cam?

Cool ...Kami that has given is something to think about...I know there is a vee running through the bottom of this board which helps it to get on rail a lot more.. I will let Azza know that trick! I will take photos of the board tomorrow and I might even get Aaron to join up so he can tell you more. Thx Lacey and others for the nice comments.. I will go and get some more waves with it soon and try to get a full length video together.

The camera mount looks pretty crazy at the moment cause it has a lot of duct tape.. I will clean it up and then learn how to post photos.

Sorry can,t agree with that. Some boards like to dish pan more then others even for the very good surfers.

Yes there are dish pan ers out there' I,ve seen them, why even done it myself

You might say that it's crazy but you haven't seen some of DJ's contraptions then, gotta think outside the box to get some good footage

That would be great .... a comparison of how the dimensions of these boards would relate to traditional boards with regards to stability, glide and performance would be even better. Thanks heaps for your input here porchey, it's really interesting to see the sport evolving and being pushed in new directions.

Porchey, that was red hot, but I should have taken a Kwell before watching it.

how tall are you as well? IMO that really affects stability. Mind you, that footage looked so glassy and clean you could stand on anything!

i should have mine from Simon next week.....

cheers

Great looking board and thanks for posting photos, more questions! how wide is the nose of the board I am guessing around 19 inches, and do you find it trips a rail at all? Cheers

Good to see you sharing the stoke there old mate as well as adding some new concepts to the water footage. As others have said it looks like a pretty unique camera mount design that you've developed and are no doubt on the road to quickly patenting!!

Just need you to take me up on my offer to borrow one of my 14' race boards and come down for a few sessions at the Alley with Kelly, Bear and everyone else.

Cheers
Lockie
