Good stuff Radman. Nice surfing on that yellow thing looked a bit wobbly on the 12/6 at one point How we're the lungs after that race
lets just say they yellow board is to big and the 12'6' is to small but my young bloke likes it so all good
Went down Sunday, late morning when the waves were getting cut up quite badly by the wind and caught the last of the women's heats.
Must say how impressed I was by the "go for it" attitude in conditions which were obviously incredibly fatiguing and waves that didn't know what they wanted to do. Don't think these conditions are shown in the vid as the camera was obviously down doing the paddle race event.
This attitude was repeated in the first of women's long board heats as well.
It was a pleasure to watch.
My hat off to you all.
Nice work Matty Holder, Awesome Vid , big thankyou to Surfing WA especialy Justin Majeks who gives up so much of his time to put on these events, to all his staff who effortlessly continue to assist Justin in putting together fun weekends, to Ray for head judging the SUP heats and Dan who judged all weekend, there are many other people who assisted with judging thanks to all of you, I know we all got some helpful tips from sitting in the judges chair, I highly recomend it to those who wish to improve their contest surfing. Lastly thanks to all the competitors who travelled from near and far and attended our three state rounds, huey was a bit unkind for some of the days but I'm sure as I did we all had awesome fun. You guys have helped make SUP one of the strongest and most patronised disciplines for the SWA calendar Thaaaaaanks. I cant wait for next year , there will be some more exciting and improved events. Also thanks to my fellow SUPWA reps who give up heaps of time and energy for a great sport. Congrats to the State Title winners and the state team reps (still to be announced at the upsoming SUPWA AGM and dinner).
Cheers Rog
Still frothing forgot to say also top job everyone had a hell time bring on next year. plus one on getting in the judges tent learnt a lot
Great events like these deserve to have some quality coverage thrown at them- as they just leap off the screen.
This was a blast to put together and a really fun event to shoot!
Thanks for your kind viewer comments and a big thanks to all the riders for action and to Huey for providing the arena.
As a surf Supper meself -I really wanted to join in the surf comp - i was frothing on the conditions !
The final just turned it on!
Big Thanks to Rog, Galvo and the SUPWA crew for having the vision to use good old Reflex Films for sound, vision and rhythm.
Yep great stuff as usual Matt, I had to miss this round so it was good to get some footage but even better to see it presented so well.
Yeah Matt is a legend behind the lense but is a goose in front of it
Remember this Matty? Before the GoPro I cable tied my digital camera to my boom.

Matt - what quadcopter were you using? Phantom?

Rob
Twas a DJI fw 450 - similar ish size and power to Phantom -more customisable with a dedicated quality radio set up.
