I was thinking I'd like to do a paddle from Cardwell across to Missionary Bay and up through the estuary to Hinchinbrook Island. I did it a few years ago in a tinny and it was a magical spot. But I remember there being quite a few crocodiles.
Has anyone done the trip? What's the general thoughts on SUPs in crocodile waters?
can you take a Go Pro with you so that someone can at least post the final outcome.....assuming that they find the Go Pro!
Strongly suggest not taking an inflatable.
unless you have the Go Pro with you!!
Sounds like it's probably not a wise idea. A pity because the place would be an oasis without the crocs, stingers, mosquitos, snakes and feral pigs.
You do see guys kayaking up the ocean side but I think it's the mangrove area between Cardwell and the island that's the most problematic.
Do people SUP off Cairns and further north?
I live pretty close to Hinchinbrook Channel, plenty of crocs there. There is a resident 4.5 metre croc that's always on the beach at Cardwell good for photo snaps the locals love him and won't have him removed.Definately wouldn't sup in the channel or any creeks up here,or Missionary Bay. In saying that there have been no croc attacks on Sup ers I believe, might be an interesting experiment
