Immerse SUP & Paddle Festival - Marathon Racing
G'day Breezes I'm inquiring if any Breezes out there who are in there fifties, that like racing Unlimited SUP's I'm looking for 4 or more, as Surfing Queensland will not put a over 50's Unlimited SUP Division in unless there are 5 or more competitors. So come on Breezes help an old Diehard Unlimited SUP Downwind paddler out, theres got to be 4 of you's out there. I haven't been in this race the last 3 years because I've been in Fiji I get back early from Fiji this year so I'm keen to compete I won the over 40's Unlimited SUP division in 2009 so I'll be keen to give Lacey a run for the money.
If you read the web-site below they have an over 50's Paddleboard Division and I've never seen anymore than one competitor so how does that work.

Just getting back to your enquiry. We've opened up entries for the event on the Surfing Queensland website.
At this stage we haven't put in an O/50 Unlimited SUP as we're sceptical of attracting significant numbers.
Do you have names and contacts for guys who would be willing to compete in this division? If we can wrangle together a minimum of 5-10 competitors then we'd be happy to revisit including this division in this year's race.

Description:
2013 will again see Surfing Queensland expand the range of paddleboard and stand up paddleboard opportunities available to the state's best exponents of the rapidly expanding discipline.
The 2013 Immerse SUP & Paddle Festival will be activated over the June Long Weekend (June 8-10, 2013). The three-day festival will provide the exclusive qualification pathway for Queensland athletes aiming to compete at the 2013 Australian SUP titles.

Long Course - Immerse Open Ocean Paddleboard Race:
The marathon race will feature an exciting open-ocean paddle race from Snapper Rocks to Currumbin Creek. The event caters for both men and women across a variety of ages, divisions and craft.
Start: Snapper Rocks - 10:00am
Finish: Currumbin Estuary (state qualification divisions complete longer course within estuary)
Divisions 17km:
SUP Open Men (12'6) - top four qualify for Australian titles (must be a Surfing Queensland Member) - Pathway to Team Australia.
SUP Open Women (12'6) - top four qualify for Australian titles (must be a Surfing Queensland Member) - Pathway to Team Australia.
SUP O/40 Open Individual (14' or under) - top four qualify for Australian titles (must be a Surfing Queensland Member)
SUP O/50 Open Individual (14' or under) - top two qualify for Australian titles (must be a Surfing Queensland Member)
SUP 14' Open (Mixed Gender) - top four qualify for Australian titles (must be a Surfing Queensland Member)
PRONE Open Men (12'0 Stock) – top four qualify for Australian titles (must be a Surfing Queensland Member) - Pathway to Team Australia
PRONE Open Women (12'0 Stock) – top two qualify for Australian titles (must be a Surfing Queensland Member) - Pathway to Team Australia.

Rules:
Surfing Queensland advises compititors to wear PFDs, which are to be provided by competitor.
In regards to equipment, boards (SUP and Prone) must be of a single mould and with a fixed fin (except Prone 18'0 Open – Rudder)
Also, dependent on conditions and at the discretion of the Contest Director, a cut-off time at a certain race point could be used for safety reasons
Competitors may complete in ONE marathon race division.
Age divisions:
“Over Age” Divisions – Competitors must be of age as of 1st January in the year of competition.
A special offer of $165 is available to competitors who enter all three disciplines (SUP Surfing, Technical Racing & Marathon Racing). Simply enter all three components of the festival and contact Surfing Queensland via email info@surfingqueensland.com.au to receive your $30 discount after the event's conclusion.
Please Note: If an interstate competitor is a current financial member of an affiliated state branch i.e Surfing NSW, VIC, SA, WA, TAS they do not need to become a Surfing Queensland member.
These competitors are welcome to compete in the Immerse SUP & Paddle Festival racing comonents, however they will not be eligible to represent Queensland at the subsequent Australian Titles.
Queensland competitors aiming to represent the state at the 2013 Australian SUP Titles, must be a current financial member of Surfing Queensland prior to the event.
The Surfing Queensland Eligibility Document and Surfing Queensland Code of Conduct will be strictly enforced for participation in state selection events.
