Cabin fever setting in... winter storm "Juno" has been shaking my house for 24 hours... 18 more to go.
Gusts every hour past 65 mph
Snowing the whole time.... no one is moving. Power and food and internet making it easy.
So... we have had a lot of great waves this past week... so I thought I'd share the stoke.
a lot of wind... some sessions up to 35 mph
a lot of cold... -8 c to 2 c
My buddy Eddie braved the cold to shoot many sessions since last Monday.
Good winter stuff on Cape Cod, so I figured it might bring some summertime cheer to my friends in Oz.
"we are not worthy..."
Nice girlie Alana, by the way!
I hope the guy in Indonesia is watching, and is happy with your efforts to get wet...
Holy **** Rick! Not sure I want to trade those awesome looking waves when those temps and wind come in the package?
Hi Kuz....Winter surfing is a gift... there is no feeling that replaces the satisfaction after a good cold weather session... you would love it.
Helmy... I took out my "girly" board because it was only shoulder high at the start and I had been feeling wobbly on my smaller boards in all the wind.
The Alana was so much fun when it got bigger, I didn't swap out.
I LOVE winter surfing! But... its not exactly much below 10 degrees C here in Winter! Not hardcore enough for you? :D
Love the pics. I'm bookmarking this topic so that come winter I can remind myself that I have no excuses.
Great pics, Mr Creek.
Gotta love cold surfs, thanks for sharing.
Not for me, too much of a softy!!
I better put on some more block out, don't want to get sunburn!
So use the board to get up to speed and then dive off(maintaining speed) and use the paddle o plane .Fantastic idea Seriously ,Southern ocean winter can be full on ,but I take my hat ( or should that be hood ) off to you.Nice work and true commitment.
Bloody hell Creekman, you dudes must be made of stronger stuff than us Queenslanders.
I reckon it's cold when I have to but a long sleeve shirt on.
You deserve a medal for even thinking about paddling out in those temperatures.
Nice pics by the way.
ET.
Great thanks for sharing.that is really impressive .girlie is not a word I would use ever in relation to you.
Truly inspirational. We really have it easy here. I complain when the temp gets down to 12C and the wind hits 10knots. Thanks for sharing
Everyone in New England surfs in these conditions... it's wave season and wetsuits work
Meanwhile... storm "Juno" lived up to the hype and for 2 days no one moved.
Day 3, I could not get to a beach to even see the erosion and reshaped beaches, but I did find a clear parking lot at a flat-water launch.
Here are some pics... vid coming soon, that includes footage of a bird flying by me underwater... actually flapping his wings... cool as @*!^... and I had the GoPro on him
Ahhhh open water... and pure glass. Winter can be soooo peaceful
Hi Supthecreek .
I wait the swell provided by winter storm "Juno" off your cost in the warm islands of Carribean.
Cross fingers expecting your swell in the right direction in the place i stay now and wishing to meet you here
Superb stuff creek! You and your mates are an inspiration to many. Winter paddling looks surreal in the ice n snow. And your surf shots tell us you gotta love surfing to get out in those conditions. Thanks for showing your world.
Wow - spectacular! I have never seen an ice-breaker SUP! You know nature has gone crazy when the birds fly under the water!
How thick is your wetsuit?
Oh Oh!
I hear the hint of a bootie debate coming up next!
Do us all a favour - look up last year's debate!
My testicles have just retracted watching this stuff, you've definately gottem though.
Note to self, must get secure board storage like creek has
