The CWA annual Bay 2 Beach event is on Sunday the 24th of November.
This year you can chose from the 6km ocean course from Sandtrack to Cottesloe or the full 17km distance from Mosman Bay to Cottesloe. CWA is a great supporter of SUPWA and colaborates with us to ensure SUP needs are met, thereby creating relevant SUP events. Should be a great challenge to do the full 17km, otherwise the 6km will be a really achievable distance for all paddlers.

This event is not far away, great training run for the Redink King of the Cut in early December. Two options:
a. 6km
b. 17km
Should be a great event. I know I'm going!
About 17 entries at present. I'd say 4-5 are doing the full 17km. Conditions look great for the event. Always well run, good prizes and hand outs.
Conditions look great - for a good challenging paddle.
Slow moving cold front due to cross the coast around about start time...
WSW 10 kt onshore slop built up over 48 hrs to greet paddlers amidships...
Good practice for upcoming ocean events.
Lots of fun!

Pretty light winds, will be like a normal training paddle on a Saturday morning. Are you doing the event Buccy?
Unofficially, I'm doing the 17km run.
As you mention - great way to yardstick oneself to how one will cope with 2 hrs of headwinds + sidewinds/sideslop over that distance.
Might see you out there?

Hey guys,
Does anyone have a plan re car shuffle? I can come early and leave a car at the finish if I can get a lift to start... Or should I just go to the start and wing it later?
Cheers,
Ben
Hi bt,
I can shuffle with you.
Can meet you at Isolators around 0700-0730 for shuffle.
If there is demand I can bring trailer and take up to 7 around to Mosmans.
DJ
Sounds good Derek, where is isolators? Is that the finish area?
Looks like a 5 minute drive to start from there so 7:30 should be sweet aye?
Cheers!
Isolators is just south of the Cottesloe SLSC (about 500m)...
All up it's maybe a 5min walk from the main Cottesloe beach where the finish is..
There is no timed parking there (unlike Cottesloe main beach where cameras are installed on all the parking bays) so one won't run out of parking time (3hr limit) whilst paddling...
Nah, 0730 is good.
See you there.
I'll be right for the ride home too so you can bail straight from Cott whenever it suits you...
I got held up at home this morning and missed the start so went down to rous head to watch the guys come around into the ocean for the 17km. Will Lee came thundering past with some of the ski paddlers - this guy is fast! Ben Tardrew was a little further back and young Wes not far off Ben's tail. Not sure where Marcus was? Could have past me before I got there.
Tough conditions, great effort for all those competing. Not sure if there were many runners for you. Lots of respect from the spectators around me watching - all very impressed at the speed and skill.
How did the 6km go?

Look like not the best conditions good job by the guys who smashed it out not sure of results but think there may need to be some clarification on how long you can paddle on your knees for mind you I know what that feels like BOP nationals ( but I was coming last )
Too right Stimo...
I thought it was called Stand Up...
This from Jim Terrell...
"If you look at it from an extreme angle, Stand Up Paddling is actually already in the Olympics. If you take an Olympic Canoeist (such as the guy in the picture up above) and get them to raise their back knee just a few millimetres off the bottom of their canoe, they???re technically (and legally) performing Stand Up Paddling.
Right now there???s nothing stopping a canoe racer from turning up at a SUP race in their C1 canoe, lifting their back knee ever so slightly and smoking the field."

In the context of the article, it appears that JT considers there is some form of rule that differentiates Stand Up from canoeing (ie: both knees off the board).
Why bust your guts to battle on in the Stand Up position otherwise?
Exhaustion may drive one to one's knees but that's followed by DQ at some point...
