Forecast is looking good for Saturday lets hope it holds. Sunday not so sure. I'm sure everyone is frothing. The competition and participation is going through the roof. Lot of interest in the over 50's after the Denmark round went to Adam G and all new finalists. Let's hope Rick Jako will concentrate on the Open like he did last year and let some of us mere mortals in the over 40's have a bit more of a chance and lets hope more girls enter and support our sport. It's all about participation, goodwill and fun girls doesn't matter how you finish. Look forward to seeing all the usual suspects and some new faces.

yes looking very good lets hope they push as many rounds on the saturday this year not like last year were sunday was not quite as good might have a bit of size for a change good luck crew the BOP race will be fun too sunday get ented crew its up on supwa tidy club ,
Yep, how good is this looking
There was big numbers for the Denmark comp but this one is closer to home so I'm sure we can get a few more.
If Avalon turns it on it could be a day for the goofy footers to shine.
As Fergus said O50's is wide open, it was a whole different group of finalist at Denmark compared to Rottnest and there is some good surfers out there that didn't make it to the finals in either event, so any one of a dozen or so surfers could turn it on on the day, plus without mentioning any names I know there a few more that weren't at either event that could possibly stir things up if they entered.
Also for the Opens and O40's I've heard rumours that in a shed up Gero way work is underway on some more weird and wacky shapes by the one and only froth master.
A few people have said they are not ready yet to compete, well if you enjoy sup surfing I'm sure you will enjoy competing, it's all about fun and participation for the majority of us, so come on guys and girls get on board.
You'd be surprised how much fun you can have even if you do get knocked out in the first round but who knows you might surprise yourself even more.
Spewing all three events this year I have been unable to attend. Next year I'm in for sure. Have fun fella's forecast looks great.
I know how you feel Bender, I missed most of the events last year but struck it lucky this year, so hopefully you will next.
Yes as Stimo just said the BOP entry is open as well so it is shaping up to be a top weekend.
A hard board 12'6 class with Open Men and Open Women.
Plus several classes and shorter races on inflatables with 10 x 12'6 Naish Boards kindly supplied by WA Surf and Action Sports WA.
If there is enough O40's and O50's there will be divisions for those classes on the hard boards as well, surely we can get some age divisions happening (an O40's at least), I don't really want to race against the young fellas.
Edit: I beat you by seconds Goochi but thanks for the extra info.

do you have to be a member of something like SUPwa or can you just enter for the 55 bucks (wave comp)?
was going to just watch but wondering if worth entering my goon style.
Let me guess.
Does this person have as big a impact on your liver as he does your paddling?
on the program mate not drinking and not chasing cats
Goochi do we have any rules for the BOP?
Be up for some bash and crash myself looking at the conditions!!!
Let me guess.

Program? I still think it was a setup to knock me out of the comp early.
I've been looking forward to participating in one of these comps for ages. But they keep coinciding with when I have shifts on a weekend. Then the stars are align perfectly, a bit of swell (cough, cough), weekend off and I've never been down to Avalon and have been meaning to as I've heard it’s such a great SUP wave. As shown in the amazing Reflex films edit from last year. Woo Frothing !
Now the But...
I've never surfed around that area and don't really know how big it’s going to be. Every surf forecasting website from The Inertia to Swellnet is Frothing that the swell of the year is one its way. Whilst it’s still showing around 3m on The Breeze models at a guess I’d be saying Double overhead, easy.
On top of that I’ve recently downsized my 9’3 to a 7’11, which I absolutely love when the charts are showing around the .5 to .7m mark. At 110L and me at 100kg it’s a bit of a handful but I’ve had a couple of good sessions even in light onshores at my local. I reckon it would handle much bigger and am frothing to give it a crack
I’ve gotta make the call today to join Surfing WA and sign up. But I’m in two minds.
So before I cough up my $110 my question is…
How big do you think it’s going to be?
Will it be too big and they’ll move or cancel the comp?
Have I got any hope of riding it on my 7’11?
Or should I just Shut-up n Stop whining as I’m going to a have one of the state Premier waves with just three other guys out for at least 30min?
Thoughts?
I'll be making the most of the conditions on Friday :)
Saturday will come down and take some more shots and video - I think there might be some epic waves ridden this weekend based on the surfline readings!!
