Did a paddle from Cleveland to Dunwich yesterday. 20 - 25 knot West wind. Tried something different and went out to paddle as little as possible and just let the bumps push me across. Now much of a workout but sooo much fun! I swear you don't go much slower either.
If there's a better run around here than this one I'm yet to do it! Thanks to Nigel for coming with me even though he was a bit out of his comfort zone.

such a good run but There is a better run,
Port of bris to Redcliffe SSE 25kn or more..
DEAD STRAIGHT BUMPS and a lot longer over 18km
Keep me posted on that one AndyR. Sounds like an all day affair if we're coming from the Gold Coast but would love to try it especially if there's too much swell down here
ahaha i knew you would say something like that - especially after all the messages you sent me about the one you did with old mate catching bombs that day

where exactly do you put in the water at Port of Bris?
North side run. Pinkenba side of port of bris.
Right at the dead end of "pipped road" to be exact park on the dirt drop in water paddle under for foot bridge tha leads to a jetty for a ship and out the mouth of the river you go. Stick to the left which you would being a sth East wind and don't have any issues from port patrol or anything.. Plenty of fishing boats pop around that area so I don't think there would ever be any issues.
On a south East finish at woody point/Clontarf
On South South East push up to Redcliffe/Scarborough
Southside run. North East or North north East put in at port of bris boat ramp and paddle down to wello point (first point) or Cleveland (2nd point)
South South East or South East
Put in at Cleveland and finish port of bris boat ramp.
I know you guys on the coast get swell and have epic runs, I've done them and love them but from my average ability and experiance I just love bay runs its shallow the bumps are steep and quick moving and the runs seem very very quick.
If the wind is South East and 20kn or more and the swell direction is the same direction it lined up perfect.
Best on a higher ride for South side purely so there's more water at the end to finish at instead of following the boat channel into the port boat ramp.
North side run doesn't matter but I actually think low tide coming into high is best as the water sucks into The mouth of the pine river under the Redcliffe bridge. Which is dead straight direction you are heading in from the port.
Thur is looking good at this stage
Yep, might be a couple of days this week. Looks like we may have turned the corner and will start to see some decent windy days after a pretty average Winter

Yep of course after having three weeks off work and crap wind it turns good the week I head back to the office.
Ill try get out Friday lunch time for a run on the northside though..
Nice vid, Have You downwind boys jumped in behind the Strad ferrys ?, I reckon that would be fun.
I would say looking at the wake from the back of the ferry it looks too wide. You might even get sucked under.I mean you would have to be a distance back

Jake Jensen got a great ride behind the ferry. It was a combination of boat wake and bumps. One of the ferry guys filmed it on his phone and showed us and it looked like good fun!
Friday is shaping up to be perfect for a DW run in the bay's
Keep me posted Mate. Could be keen. I'll ask around down here and see if anyone else might be up for it as well.
