We're planning a downwinder for tomorrow morning either from Mornington to Frankston / Patterson River in the event of a southerly wind, or if it blows more south westerly, we might go Flinders to Point Leo. It will be a 9am meet up at the agreed end point. Decision on course made later this evening, with possible last minute change of plans in the morning. Register your interest here or on the Facebook page and we will keep you updated.

Rye to Dromana would also be nice with the right direction & strength.

Enjoy! You'll have a good one. Lots of options.

I'm in, and will make a call first thing in the morning for conditions in Western Port.

Flinders to Point Leo looking pretty good but if anyone wants in, you'd better let us know on this thread so we can include you on the phone list. Chris will be making the call on the course in the morning. Meeting time will be 9am, either at Point Leo or Frankston so let us know if you're interested.

Paddled from Dromana to the new SUPVic downwind HQ on the bay also known as Justin's house at Mornington, was 15.5km, we managed to avoid the wind very successfully with hardly 5 knots at the launch point and 25knots howling through the middle of the bay up to Stkilda that we could see on the horizon, still was an enjoyable day on the water with a few gusts in different sections and small chop to chase for Justin,PT,JC,Paul and myself.

Didn't know there were brown arrows. Is that because of the colour of your boardies when you do downwiders in 40 knots!

Yep, it's Laurie's new graph format...brown arrows for 35+ and the scale on the vertical axis scale is fixed (used to change).

40 plus knot downwinders on Port Phillip Bay are unreal fun!!
We had one last year gusting to 46 knots.....you didn't even have to paddle to get onto a runner

Can't wait..

Love it when the gusts make the water spray look like smoke blowing across the water.

Love when you fall you have to make sure you fall upwind of your board because if you don't when you come up out of the water the board will flip and fly over your head.

Love it when you go to take a stroke to catch a runner and a gust feels like someone standing behind you slaps you on the back and push's you forward onto the runner and there's no need to take that stroke.

Love when you go so fast taking the drop you can feel the fin humming and you can lean on your paddle hard without any fear of it slowing you down.

Do you want to know how many days, hours, and minutes till Thursdays downwinder..

DJ
