The Bunbury Baymasters and WA Surf are proud to announce the birth of N1SCO style BOP racing into WA. Two rounds of racing will be held over two consecutive weekends in May, enabling us to determine who is the best in the west in SUP's version of UFC. This will be a unique opportunity post Black Blade on the 11th to square up on equal boards on the same course to regain or confirm any bragging rights.
Safety Bay Sunday May 18th - www.facebook.com/events/1436876416557375/
Bunbury Koombana Bay Sunday May 25th - www.facebook.com/events/1432599910319540/
Love to see a solid turnout at both events, not just because it looks like great fun, but to hopefully to generate enough interest to see a BOP series appear in the not to distant future. Love to see some of the Margies crew head up for this one, a form of racing that might appeal to our swell blessed friends.
Keep an eye out over the coming weeks as we shore up details.
Booked for Safety Bay & considering Bunners for the following Sunday
Get on board Maxeeboy.
The Bunners event will be held at Koombana Bay Beach, and without the need for boards makes for a very easy road trip down from Perth with a car load of crew, and an unpleasant one on the way back for the skipper
We're hoping for every paddler that competes they try and bring a friend and get them hooked as well
Had a few questions asked today about the N1SCO events over the next two weekends so here's an FAQ for those of you who aren't sure.
When & Where - Rockingham Beach (Bell Park) Sunday 18th May, Rego @ 11am because everyone loves a sleep in on Sunday
Bunbury, Koombana Bay Beach, Sunday 25th May, Rego @ 11am.
Entry fee - $25 on the day.
Format - Rockingham is stop #6 of the Australian N1SCO Tour, for which the overall winner of the whole tour wins a trip to the Worlds in Europe. The format for these races will be 100m, 200m, either a 1k or 2k & hopefully finishing with a 4person team relay event over a pretty short course.
Bunbury will be a bit more BOP style orientated. Divisions will be decided upon on the day depending on number of participants and age/skill spread.
The boards - We will have a fleet of 12'6" Naish ONE inflatable one design race board. Check them out at www.n1sco.com if you haven't heard of them.
Why - this event is designed 100% around fun and getting as many people involved as possible. You don't need to bring a board, and if you don't have one you don't even need to bring a paddle (we only have a handful of spares, so don't everyone rock up without one!). We are happy to modify the format or type of racing on the day to suit the conditions and what the paddlers want.
Everyone including kids and beginners are encouraged to participate and we will be sure to accommodate everyone regardless of skill level.
Hope to see everyone there!
The Bunners event will be run off the swimming beach at Koombana Bay. A rare chance to get your mates and anyone else on SUP for some off the cuff racing, and a chance to settle a few arguments with mates on the same type of board!! Anyone that enters should at least bring a mate down with them, this is going to be a blast.
