In conjuction with Namotu Island, Waterman League, Air Pacific and Fiji tourism board we are having a Week of events (12th-19th November) including a 19 mile downwind SUP paddle race from Natandola Beach to Namotu then a few days later a surf slalom off Namotu and then on the Friday a fun race from Namotu to Musket Cove with free beer food and a live band for competitors and family.
There is a prize purse of $25,000.00 and a whole lot of fun...
We are only running a 12'6" division and Air Pacific will give free board transport to and from your country location once entered. Hope to see you in Fiji!!
i think a few crew are keen on the idea
it would be a good little trip to do
i know downwinder would be stoked for us all to get over there and bomb all the lineups with him....yewwwww
one question
is the 19 mile race just 12'6 as well or open to all lengths
We are only doing the 12' 6" this year for logisical reasons. See how we go this year and then maybe bring it up to the fourteens next time for the big boys!!
I had a few beers with Scotty at the Wanga Bar

I paddled the Namotu 12'6'' proto type yesterday in the surf it was 2-2 1/2 feet the board felt good for a 281 litre the board felt good in the waves, a little bit tippy at 27" inch wide but it was my first time ever on a 12'6'' the wind picked up in the afternoon 18 knots so I got dropped of near Musket Cove & paddled back to Namotu got some nice little runners. I did find it a little bit hard when I was paddling on my left hand side (as I'm use to a rudder system) My 17'6'' Bullet would have been loving the conditions in Fiji yesterday.
Hope to see you all in November.
I goto go the tide has dropped & there are some nice waves out front time for a surf.
This is the 19 mile course for 12'6''
SOLO or TEAMS
I'll be doing it as a Team
Starts at Natandola Beach Resort finishes on Namotu Island you paddle right past Cloud Break
is the wind mainly blowing from south at this time of the year.
How much risk do we have to get a head wind?
