Wanted to throw out a big thanks to the guys @ Ocean Addicts for their service and keeping the customer happy.
I had a chat with the guys over the phone on the type of board i was after and the intended purpose. They put forward some suggestions and eventually we decided on a Fanatic Flatwater (2015). Shipping to Sydney from QLD was simple and delivered in 48hrs from the time it was sent.
Now to unwrap the board was an ordeal as there was so much cardboard, bubble wrapping & tape, this was awesome as i was a little concerned with damage in freight, as soon as i saw the box all concerns disappeared.
Thanks Luke & i will not have an issues purchasing from you again
Can i ask what was wrong with buying a Fanatic from the guys down in Sydney? Plently of good fanatic dealers down there
Cheers angie
You have had a good experience GMilne. Fantastic news. That isn't always the case.
I may not be cool enough for the Ocean Addicts guys, because on 2 occasions I have been asking questions about a product and the salesman has just walked away and didn't return.
The first time was about two and a half years ago when I was in the market for a new surfSUP, I was talking with the guy about a couple of brands and their costs etc and POOOOOOOOF he was gone. I waited and looked for a while, he didn't return so I left and bought my board elsewhere.
The second time was about one and a half years ago when I had broken a paddle and wanted a new surf paddle. Same deal, asking some questions and being shown a paddle and the guy just walks away. So did I never ever to return.
Coincidently I met a guy last weekend at Noosa who has just started to SUP. He was discussing boards and gear and technique with me for quite some time. he asked me where I bought my gear so I told him about a local place that gives good service.
He proceeded to tell me about his recent trip to Ocean Addicts in search of a board when after a few minutes the salesman just walked way. He described the guy and it appears it was the same bloke that did it to me.
To me this isn't good service. I have three boards and four paddles, and all the associated gear, I paddle a lot and I recommend places to newbies. I have been paddling for nearly ten years and was one of the first to start in Noosa. due to the situation that I was faced with in this store I will never be going back nor will the guy from Caloundra that I was talking to, he bought his gear in Caloundra and I now buy all my gear in Noosa.
Maybe not everyone looks or acts the way some people think a SUPer should look or act. They still have money in their pocket and want to spend it.
I am sure I will get a pasting from some people for this post. So be it. I still won't be going back there.
ET.
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at ocean addicts , I have been supping for a year now and bought my first board from a cheap shop in Mooloolabah won't mention the name after 2 months it was a bloody mess I took it back with no luck and had to glass it down the middle as a crack had formed about 5 ft long it is a total peice of .... So a bit of back ground I am a stay home dad with a disabled child whos only real me time is surfing and now supping arthritis has slowed the surfing down . I had no board no ready cash and a cheap alloy paddle when I walked into Ocean Addicts I started a convo with Luke about wanting to get a board but being a carer not being able to get a loan he said no worries mate ! How much you got I said I could sell my mt bike for about $500 he said done fixed me up with a beautiful allwave ( in HR of course ) and asked me what I could afford to pay back each week SO I would just like to let people know the guys at Ocean Addicts are the real deal when it comes to being gentlemen and I will allways remember the kind deed Luke and the guys at OC did for me ,true story . Cheers K
I've just bought a second hand board through these guy's and I couldn't have been happier with the service.
I couldn't find the particular board I was after here in Wollongong and I normally like to buy local.
The board was professionally wrapped, condition as described and arrived on time.
They get a thumbs up from me.
ET. Unfortunately that is the way with many retail and cafe outlets on the Coast. I have lived here 25 yrs and there has been no improvement in some areas. Poor service prevails so I can understand your frustration. Surely it is not tgat hard. Bad service again this morn at cafe again (first world problem, I know) . Having said that, I recently bought a new board (old stock so not expensive gear) from OA and Jon was very helpful and took time to discuss where I am at and where I am hoping to get to. Even repairing a crappy paddle I had that broke earlier that day. Can only go on my experience that one time which was pretty good. I also dont look like much of a SUPper (50 yr old duffer).
I have only ever had very positive experiences with Luke and Ocean Addicts.
Always happy to lend out gear for demo. One day I broke my board, went in to the store devo and he lent me his personal surfboard. I then bought a board off him.
I popped one of his kites on a fence years ago when demoing, very understanding with that one. (sorry mate ). I then bought a kite off him.
I sound like a nightmare customer, but yeah Luke and the guys in the store have always been great in my experience.
I've been surfing for over 30+'yrs in that time I've had custom shapes, new boards off the rack etc , lost count how many boards and different dealers and shaper I've dealt with and spent thousands of dollars with. Luke, John and the boys at Ocean Addicts have been the best with customer service and advise. I would recommend these guys to anyone, still do.
Yes, Jon at Ocean Addicts shortened my paddle for me today... great job, nicely done. I've bought a few boards there over the years, including my current 10'6 Nalu, which I love.
Always good service and advice from the team.
