I ordered it online after seeing the web site. I sent the guy an e-mail and he said he has some video of the unit working which he is about to put on his web site.

Maybe the new ones are better - but I remember years ago when they first came out they did some testing...it worked ok unless the shark was in "feeding frenzy" mode!!

In saying that - what's the chances of acutually being attacked? I'm sure this topic has had it's run but...........

You're more likely to be killed by:
- A falling coconut
- A vending machine
- Lightning strike
Long story short, don't paddle your SUP near palm trees, in a storm with a vending machine!

I laugh every time I think of the story about a guy who developed a wetsuit that had yellow stripes on it and it was supposed to scare off sharks because the sharks thought you were a dangerous sea snake that had yellow stripes on it.

Apparently this guy traveled down the coast showing how it worked by jumping in the water with live sharks and they swam away.. He then did it in an area further south and the sharks attacked him.

They pulled him from the water and he later found out that there are no sea snakes in that area because of the cooler water.. and the sharks aren't stupid..

The chances are greatly increased if you are surfing alone at a known great white haunt in Vic, SA, or WA

Hey Mr Brooko?

You must get a warm swirling current off PL as the makos up this end as a general rule only turn up outside 60+m water depth and generally not until the water gets to 18+ deg.

Whites well thats another mater they dont seem to have a temp sensor! and you can keep then all in that nice nursery down you way

Bells seems to attract nice big threshers I have seen 3 there in the last 12 months feeding on bait and 13th gets quite a few big 7 gills particularly on the western end.

Amazing what you see when your standing up on the board paddling rather than dangling legs like a teaser

Hey Phil, hows things mate Just had a really nice surf in 3ft sucky waves with the odd bigger set at the river mouth closest to my place nice shaped peaks and great waves Once again 100 m out the back as Im waiting for a set something big long and black surfaces on its side and goes back down, it was not a dolphin and I did not really want to look A very nice right hander came through straight afterwards a late drop and tight bottom turn up into a barrel that I did not come out of and snapped my leash (2 in a week at the same spot). This spot is so hard to swim in at as its super rippy! Man was thinking I wish I had not just seen that black thing. It was quite a scary swim in !!

Not too many coconuts out there. But if any lightning threatens, take the bamboo paddle instead of the carbon fibre.

This looks like a really cool thing. I think it uses holographic technology to create a homeoenergetic field that convinces the sharks not to eat you. Apparently there's a test you can do. Who wants to be first? If it doesn't work you get your money back.
