After missing yesterdays downwinder, bugger!! I went for a 6km paddle from Sorento Caravan Park to the point at Portsea and used my Paddle Logger to get some details. So for 6km I had an average speed of 4.53kph in choppy cross wind conditions and waves coming from all directions around the docked ferry from Queenscliff and a max speed of 9.39kph cruising back with the wind at my side and back. It says my pace was 13.14min per Km.

Once I had a rest I did a 2.2km when the wind died down a bit then averaged 4.62kph and a top speed of 13.52kph and a drop to 12.59 min per km.
Not sure if these figures are ok or not but its good to have a starting point to refer to and compare when conditions are calmer.

Some pics of my paddle to Portsea Point, if they were wondering what the poor people it's obvious they are on paddle boards looking at their houses?

Today I ventured into Westernport bay going from Newhaven to Churchill Island which is a 4km return trip, still had a head wind but because no swell gets that far down the bay it's so easy to handle. It made for a quicker trip back kinda like a mini downwinder but only about 15kn wind so no real bumps to carry me along.

I paddle Sorrento to Portsea, Blairgowrie heaps because I work there. It's handy to have a tides app. It can REALLY run down there. I usually paddle in to it then return with it assisting me. Beautiful stretch of coast.

I think a grease and oil change would be good, did another 10k today and plan to hit the beach for the rest of the week seeing as it's going to be hot!

Hopefully a a downwinder happens before next Monday?????

Well as I mentioned I thought I would paddle from Rosebud West to Sorrento which according to Google is 15km, well by sea it's 11.29 and I was hoping for a tail wind but no I got cross chop and paddled on one side for the whole trip but hey who's complaining. Caught a couple of bumps on the sand bars which was when I swapped to my right side briefly which was fun and saw a few Dolphins just a bit further out than I was which is always good to see.

So because it was so choppy it took 2.23hrs to do this trip, how the hell am I going to get across Westernport Bay in 45min???

Rosebud West.

Blairgowrie Marina

I needed a sit down to rest my feet and left side.

How nice is my wife she set up camp with my chair and lunch under the striped Unberella, the line on the board is pointing at her!

It was great but the cross chop drove me nuts at times pushing the nose sideways all the time And there were too many Jet Ski's and boats zipping around to go out further to deeper water?
