Today was better.
As much as I loved the chance to race against and meet some of the best paddlers in Oz over the weekend, there is nothing quite like the stoke of sharing some waves with a great crew.
I had the chance to catch up with downwind legends Livio, Dave and the SIC crew at Windsurfnsnow today, got some great downwinding tips from the guys then went out and caught a few bombs with them on race boards.
I'd like to reassure Sam that no boards were harmed in the process but as strong as the 10mm Balin legropes are I managed to snap one, I was a bit concerned when I saw my borrowed JP heading in towards the rocks.
It's a good thing the SIC boards are mighty tough because they were given a workout as well.
Some of the photo's aren't the best quality but you get the idea, I am operating off a mobile ATM so here is a taste I may add more when I get home to my computer.

Good to see such a crew frothing on race boards out there. Soooo much fun when the big 17'4" gets on one and takes off like a freight train. :)
Yesh nothing like dropping in on a 12'6 or 14' weapon!
Who's that dropping bombs on the Brian Szymanski Lahui Kai - Tight lines?
Not sure there was quite a crew and I don't remember all the names, he is in the foreground on the second photo of previous post.
The guy on the blue dc nsp dropped into a few beauties, Dave Kissane got a few nice lefts that he worked right through to the inside.
Livio was picking up heaps of rights on the inside but I think Fletcher took off on one of the biggest bombs on the 17'4" but didn't make the drop.
There was a lot of great shots that I missed because I was trying to get some myself and I was rocking around on my board so got a few pic of sky or water.
I also spent a bit of time swimming after my board, Livio not only grabbed my board for me he saved my Surfing WA hat as well, cheers Livio.

Haha, the sequence would not have been so flattering. He's one of the 'Gong crew. Only had the Lahui Kai for a fortnight. Think he mistook it for his Sunova.

Not sure what you mean surely he made it. ;)

That looks likes you had a ball Kent!
Great to catch up with you over the weekend - look forward to seeing you 'on the other side' sometime soon!

Damn I was hoping you had the somersault half a second later.
It was a fun afternoon Kent. Still trying to figure out how we went from doing ins and outs to catching waves tho .
Didn't really feel like putting a bend in my 17.
Was so fun out there.
How cool was Livio looking after everyone - with lost paddles, hats, broken leggies and all around Brazilian stoke
