Hey Legends, anyone got any tips on removing Gorilla Grip from a board?
Used it to try and stick down a flapping deck grip, the deck grip came off and the Gorilla Glue has stayed on there. Keen to replace the deck grip but reckon will need to get all the old stuff off..
Tar and glue remover designed for cars is what I would use. Rinse it off afterwards. Autosmart Tardis is great.

The secret for removing glue is ... time.
- Choose a mild solvent (never acetone, it will damage you and the board): Solvent F, turpentine, citrus-based household cleaning products, or even just warm (not hot) soapy water.
- put an absorbing layer on the area: towel, layers of tissues...
- drown the towel with the solvent
- cover with a plastic sheet (garbage bag), ideally taping the edges.
- the goal is to let the product act 15 to 30mn
- the glue should be softened and easily removable with a plastic scraper (credit card).
try to work progressively, uncover bit by bit and scraping. If you remove the whole bag + towel, you run the risk of some parts re-drying and harden before you work on them.
In summary:
"Patience and length of time may sever, What strength and empty wrath could never."
Or: use a mild solvent for a long time rather than a strong one for a short time.

Just to add my 15 cents... I have used Tardis on one of my Starboards to get rid of the residue when I was removing part of the deck grip to fix the handle. It's safe to use in my experience and does not contain acetone as far as I know.
Put an old towel over the grip, soak with turps and cover with plastic so it doesn't dry out too quick. After a couple of hours or overnight just peel off grip. Clean off any remaining adhesive with turps. The removed grip can be washed, dried and reapplied if required.

+1 This is the best and easiest way
All these relate to tge original adhesive and wont work on a foaming PU glue.
Is that what you mean by gorilla glue? Its honey coloured and sets crispy not flexible?
If so, scrape and abrasion will be it
Or do u mean gorilla grip - which is like the factory grip?
(You use both terms)
I will also do a regrip for you, or look at it for DIY

Hi Mark, sorry for the confusion - It is the Gorilla Glue that I used to try and stick down the existing deck grip that was flapping around. The stuff that sets honey coloured and goes rock hard.
Can confirm I am in Western Australia!
Will message you direct to chat about re-doing the deck grip.
