Hi All,
For those that may be interested, in either competing or checking out the action...
The Open SUP divisions that were scheduled to be held at the ROLA Victorian SUP Titles were rescheduled due to less than ideal conditions the day of the event. Thus the division will now be surfed during the Victorian Longboard Titles at Pt Impossible, the weekend of the 14th & 15th of May, the second and final round of the Victorian Longboard Titles.
We will send out more info before the day, including entry details and a schedule of the event.
Stay tuned!
Action from Rola State Titles on Jan 22nd 2011 at Torquay.
Apology to Dave Hunt 2nd place , (not Dave Ham)
Great run up the beach Cam , how where your legs..big effort. Some good surfing in the crap conditions. We have had comps in far worse (Qld) maybe you Vicco's need to harden up a bit.
Great Vid Rich.
yes totaly agree the surf was super fun, fine for any comp in NSW , had way worse conditions for most comps ive been to, at least there were waves and consitant to.
Surf was certainly contestable but at the time I thought the call was valid. In retrospect where we blew it was missing the chance to crown Vicco champions at the Vicco SUP championships. The infrastructure was there the interest was there the contestants were on board in numbers not seen before and the crowd was there to see SUP and only SUP. As an add on to the Longboard Titles we lose all of that. Ninety percent of the longboarders dont want us there and to the other ten percent we are a diversion amongst the main event. The pork chop at the Barmitzvah, the fart in the space suit etc ad nauseam
Cheers

I have noticed this at events also

Is that what most people think, "sup is just an add on"?
I don't know who organises the sup surf comps but maybe they should be run seperately from Longboard titles. This might encourage new comers to have a go as well. I was in Torquay when the sup comp was on, it was fantastic to see spectators enjoying the sport. A family I met while staying at the carevan park were very interested and couldn't believe how easy you guys made it look.
Yes conditions were not ideal but thats how you determine champions.
