The 3rd and final 10+ SPSC contest is on this Sunday 8th @ Palmy.
Starting at 7.15am, with first heat scheduled to hit the water at between 7.45 -8am.
This contest format is unique in a few key ways for SPSC. First, it will be pre-registration entry only. If you are not a member of SPSC, you can register as a one off, or if you are already a member you will register by RSVPing to the event on tidy club. www.spsc.tidyclub.com
*****Pre-registration only**** Ending Friday 6th at 5pm. Through the SPSC online booking system. (see bottom of page for link)
Facts about the comp - There is no heat progression, every surfer will ride twice earning points for a final positioning at the end of the 3 events.
- All competitors are expected to remain at the event site for the entire duration of the heats as judging is pre-allocated so everyone gets a turn to judge a heat.
- Heats will be 15 minutes long and run back to back, which means 3 hours total run time.
- All competitors are expected to wear leg ropes and allocated coloured rash vests.
- Boards must be over 10' in length.
- Rides will be judged on Style, Length of ride, Positioning, Wave selection, difficulty of ride/manoeuvres and all round performance. Points will be allocated in reflection to the intensity and difficulty of the moves performed.
- All competitors are expected to be at the marshalling tent around 7am, for a potential 7:15am Riders briefing and 7:45am potential start. Given smooth running of heats this will have things wrapped up by about 11:00am.
- All general surfing rules, common sense and good sports-person-ship are expected at all times.
- For competitors judging for the first time, there will be a quick 5 minute session at 7:20am after the 7:15am. Riders briefing to help with your concerns and queries.
- Fun is mandatory!! The will be healthy food provided on the day, included in entry/membership fee.
- There will be a lucky door prize at each event. To be eligible for the prize you must be a member of SPSC and you must be present at the end of the day's competition.

See you on the water Sunday.

Here is the leaderboard for the series so far. Some really close points in the top 6 for the Men's While 2nd and 3rd in the Women's are still not out of contention for 1st. It's going to be a great day. See you at Palmy bright and early on Sunday.

I reckon we measure Casso's board down the stringer to check it's 10 foot. As he's made this board especially I say we handicap him by tying his leggie around both ankles and make him use Kiearan O'Riordan's paddle.
My paddle would be too much blade for Casso.
It's also not one of those effeminate paddles with "wings".
A little video from the first 10'+ SPSC event to get you into the groove for Sunday.
Thanks Chappo,
Enjoy,

It is actually 10' and 0.5" - just to keep you whingers at bay.
Ha ha - just saying...
I think you will find Casso already on a very sweet custom, this one looks fun but I thought at ten foot he may have got the double ender Let the banter begin...
Will be keen to see the grip this time round and how it noserides.

Sunday on for red vs yellow JB. Those dimensions sound like the Laird painted yellow and filled with helium.
Game on boys, it's looking really good.
4-5ft swell @ 11s. Light offshore in the morning, low tide just before 5am, high about 11am.
oh yeah baby! See you all on the water.

Still gripping Casso? Surf pumping under the moooon.
Done.
Had to go to work today tomorrow's looking good for a boat trip though
Here is the heat draw for tomorrow's SPSC 10'+ comp.
The draws are somewhat seeded differently for the 2 rounds.
Round 1 is seeded by splitting the competitors according to their position on the leaderboard. This splits up the top 5, then the next 5 and so on.
Round 2 is seeded by grouping competitors according to their position on the leaderbaord, kind of like making 5 mini finals for each group. Grouping the top 4, then the next 4 and so on.
As it is the last event of the season for the 10'+, this draw will make for more points and a greater chance for everyone to better their position on the leaderboard.
Please note your allocated judging heat. This is next to your name in the appropriate heat, with the idea to share the judging around.
See you all at Palm Beach at 7am. Briefing at 7:15am, and on the water as soon as possible there after.
Ride safe,
JB
Great idea JB. Well done on all the organising. Should make for exciting heats.
Looks fun, well done JB. I hope waves not too straight! Where on the beach are you thinking JB? Have not seen it since last comp. Told pretty straight last couple of days.
Casso have you got a spot on the boat this afternoon? Looks promising this afternoon with NEaster up.

JB is that a custom job or a new production model?
My guess would be we'll be around the two rocks. Yep that larger swell wasn't holding up all that well, but there was nice banks there through the week. Hopefully as the swell drops it will be all time.
Zues, This is an Australia only production. My sample will be here Tuesday, then stock in May. A lot are already pre-sold, so if you're keen, get onto it now or it'll be the following shipment likely round July/August. Full LE construction. 10'0" x 28'5" x 4" @130ltrs. Fin setups 4 + 1.
