This had to be the absolute highlight for this month. I even am starting to gain confidence to enter the 4 km event for the fun and social interaction. Hope there'll be bacon and egg rolls like at the Great Melbourne Paddle.
in for 4kms
don't laugh
I only picked up a paddle last March
Only picked up my first 14 footer last Saturday.

so do the 4k twice
Yes.. btw the race is more like a social paddle or fun run type event.
Happy to hear that. As my very first organised SUP event entry it gives me confidence that anyone can do it. Just need a SUP and be prepared to have a lot fun, especially throughout all the other events as well.
I am particularly looking forward to seeing the dogs on SUPs event and talking with some of the guys how they got their dogs started.
What time does it all start What time are the organisers planing to start races. Would there be a open/novice class in the races as I don't have a race board???
Thanks

The main event will start around 8:45 (sign in from 8, briefing at 8:30).
There will be 4k, 8k and 12k options for the main race AND the inclusion of a SPORT class (non-race boards 12'6 or under) and an inflatable class.
So it's "Run What Ya Brung"
see you there Dave
Dumb question - where along Pier Road is it? Where would you recommend parking? (I haven't been to StKilda beach in a looong time.)
Can’t wait to team up with my best mate Charlie again for the Pet Race.
If you’ve got a pooch bring them along and join in the fun.

Oh yeah and it's a PET race (not exclusively for pooches!). If you've got a chook, cat, rat, snake, gerbil or whatever bring 'em along - SUPVIC is ALL about inclusion, no specsiesism* allowed
*(but on-water management of your beastie is entirely your own responsibility )
Don't suppose I can 'borrow' a penguin from further out on the breakwater behind the pier in the photo?
As a fairly new resident to St Kilda, I have to say that I was largely unaware that many Little Penguins (Eudyptula Minor, to be more precise) call that break-wall home. Maybe, instead, I can enlist one of the Rakali (Native water rats) that live out there as well? No?

Rosscoe, you clearly haven't been paying attention at the Port Phillip Cup up to now. Every year that it has been run, the organisers have donated all profits to the local environment group Earthcare, who protect the fairy penguins. They have had an education stand set up and everything. Not sure if they will be there tomorrow, but I hope so.
There's plenty of penguins there.. see 3.28 in this vid..
There's more than 1,500 living in the St Kilda breakwater..

Yep, the Earthcare crew will be in the mix on Tuesday.
(Rosscoe if you can tame a Rakali between now and Tuesday you're in)
