Hi Breezers, does anyone know of anywhere I could hire or borrow a couple od boards and paddles in Singapore, I found a couple of possibles on google, but you guys on here are the real oracle of all SUP knowledge.
Would be good to hook up with any locals if you know of any.
Cheers for any info.
Jason.
Options are pretty limited, AFAIK there's the girl who runs a hire op out of one of the sailing clubs on the east coast park waterfront...has a few "Red" inflatables and maybe a Fanatic fly or two ( see http://www.rachelcharis.com/standuppaddle.htm) ...limited hours and best to call a day or so in advance, I've never been able to line my schedule up with her opening hours. There's hire outfit at one of the other sailing clubs about half a kay closer to town run by a couple of dodgy Euro dudes...a few old starboards that are pretty effed-up and hire rates seemed expensive to me, but they sell cold beer. You can get there by MRT but it's a bit of a shlep...I'd recommend go by taxi. From memory one of the dragon boat clubs or life savers over near Sentosa was doing a bit of SUP too but I never looked much into them.
Word of caution..the water over on the East Coast side has a noticeable diesel tang from the hundreds of ships anchored a little way off shore, and the last few times I've been there and stuck a toe in it's kind of stung my skin a little...I usually take a skatey with me and enjoy the park trail network instead.
I always found these guys pretty good http://www.manamana.com/watersportsrental.html
they are near all the action - cable ski, bike hire , food courts ...actually they do their own really good food and have outdoor settings for a sundowner beer after - pretty cool set up...I'm just a bit surprised no one has mentioned them - I haven't been there in a year or two but I don't think it would have changed that much as I recently pointed them to a friend who enjoyed it too - think they have a fun race series also
I was over a couple of months ago and saw some hire SUPs on Sentosa Island, near the flow rider. They were only big basic boards. I never saw any SUPs on the water at all while I was there.
heres a link to the mana mana fun series - looks like next one end of month

Thanks guys for your help. Having just returned, I can confirm that I found another worthwile option.
At Tanjong Beach, Sentosa there is a new operation with 10 new Surftech boards including some Lairds and 4 Bark boards. Two 14' and a couple of 12'6. Good condition with QB adjustables.
Isabelle, the owner, is helpful, accomadating and charming, she opened til late so that we could paddle after work and came with us on a mini tour of the coast up Sentosa.
The scenery is different from what we experience here, but it's good to see another perspective, with Sentosa's manmade exorborance on one side and one of the Worlds busiest shipping channels on the other.
But the water is 29 degrees and I'd rather paddle any day than go for a run in an airconditioned hotel gym.
Check it out if you are over there at any time, and help to grow the sport in the area and spread some SUP spirit.
